Standing order

My rent is due on 1st which falls on a Saturday this month. I'd prefer it to go out of my bank tomorrow rather than Monday which I think will happen as it's a standing order. Please could anyone confirm if this is the case as I think it is? If so, can I change the date of my standing order at this late stage?

It might depend on your bank, but my standing orders go out on the day intended, even at weekends (HSBC)

ETA: I just googled and google AI says it doesn’t, so now I am doubting myself! All I know is that I have never had an issue. But pretty sure they never take the money early, more likely the order will go out the next working day. You might be able to change the standing order, have you tried via online banking?

Standing orders generally don't leave until the next working day, you could cancel this standing order and do a bank transfer instead but it's too late to set up a new one for tomorrow

Thank you both. I think I will cancel it and transfer the money instead. I want it to reach my landlord by the 1st.

why they hold till the next working day has baffled me for yrs 24/7 banking & still in the Stone Age Two computers talking to each other, that’s it If anything is set up for a given date it should go out on that date but of course the bank will get interest of 2 non working days out of it
