Children no longer forced to have unsupervised contact with abusive parents?

Harrowing article in today’s Guardian about government measures to prevent children being killed by an abusive parent, following a campaign by a mother who lost both her children.

the government announced that it planned to repeal the presumption that children should have contact with both parents, under which decisions are made in the family court.

In the last 30 years, the charity (Women’s Aid) found, 67 children have been killed by a parent who was also a perpetrator of domestic abuse, in circumstances relating to unsafe child contact.

‘No more children are going to die like you’: how Sheffield mother kept her promise to boys killed by father 11 years ago

Claire Throssell has been central to the campaign to repeal parental contact laws following the deaths of her two sons at the hands of their father in 2014

Yes, I heard about this last week. The mother was talking on Radio 4. It’s absolutely fantastic news and I hope it REALLY does make the needed changes for families.
