Im being silly about buying period pants

I think I want to buy new period pants, I bought 4 Modibodi pairs but then I shrunk them/got fatter and then I bought some from m&s that were so uncomfortable I threw them in the bin. I looked at buying more Modibodi ones but theyre at least 15 pounds each so two pairs a day (which i think is what I'd wear?) for my 4 day period is going to cost £120. £120 to spend just on pants seems nuts. I dont want to have to remember to wash them during my period, I know what I'm like I wont remember.

@Ihgdeyjnvd I had these ones. They were great and not crazy money. Unfortunately not currently in all sizes.

But there are plenty of others in all sizes and with great (real) reviews

I still only use tampons with a cardboard applicator as I cannot imagine it’s possible to use period pants or a moon cup without a hell of a lot of mess. I guess if you have awful in periods that leak through everything, they would be useful to wear alongside something else like a tampon.

I cannot get past the mess factor

There is zero mess. I don't know how, but it all just vanishes into the absorbent bit.

Sahara123 · 28/10/2025 19:26

I have a disabled daughter with learning difficulties and they have completely changed her life! I bought modibody, she wears 2 pairs a day . At least 2 years old and still going strong . So much more dignified that asking a carer to deal with pads. No leaks!

FrenchBunionSoup · 28/10/2025 19:27

Feel free to ignore this but I have a Mirena coil and now have no periods at all (just a tiny bit of bleeding about once a year maybe). Got mine 6 years ago and it's one of the best things I've ever done. I did have a period that lasted about 2 months when I first got it but then no more. They are free on the NHS so just wanted to mention if cost is a factor, and it's more effective for birth control than the pill.

Yup . I just throw them in the bath, rinse with the shower attachment then wash whenever I have a load going on. Best thing ever !

I put them under my feet in the shower and stamp them like red wine ! Then back in the wet bag and back in the wash!

easiest way to rinse imo

Sahara123 · 28/10/2025 19:33

Gosh I’ve just checked, I first bought modibody ones in 2019 and they’re still going strong ! I don’t tumble dry them as I know this can shorten their life span. Although I know her carer does when she stays with her, I’m not going to quibble !

So wish we had period pants when I was younger! Though would probably be a bit hesitant and wear pads/tampons as well. Are they really that good? Xx

user1492809438 · 28/10/2025 19:36

Ladies, buy decent ones then they will last. You may/probably will need incontinence pads in your old age!

FuzzyWolf · 28/10/2025 19:37

Wuka are very good. Highly recommended them.

MightyGoldBear · 28/10/2025 19:38

I've got modi bodies m&s and aldi ones I find all pretty good. I've had my modi bodi ones for over 6 years so been worth the money for me. They even saw me through post partum bleeding !

I use a addis caddy to put them all in and then at the end of my period it all goes in the washing machine. I find it easy peasy.

BettysRoasties · 28/10/2025 19:40

The favourite ones in our house are modibody, next and primark.

Aldi and M&S considering the back up “bad” pants.

I might get the modi bodi 3 pack for £32 but then you still have to pay a fiver for delivery!

Things cost money, surely that’s not a surprise.

What was the point of you coming on this thread and making a rude sarky comment?

Tesco high waisted period pants are brilliant, and I think £15 for a pack of three. I’ve never looked back. I usually wear a pad with them for the first couple of hours and then take it out and just have the period pants and I love it.

Same here, best ones by far!

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/10/2025 19:59

Sorry OP, don’t want to derail! But ….
Found period pants to be a fantastic solution to a sore bum when exercising. Always fit gained weight in recent years for various, reasons. Started walking distances again and ended up each time with a very sore, chapped bum. So much so that I couldn’t walk again next day without slathering on the sudocrem.
The pants have solved the problem completely, absorbing sweat. Sorry, TMI!
Will go now but anyone with the same issue, give them a go.

Don’t you feel sticky and hot down there? I imagine they must be quite tight and made from synthetic material?

What happens when you take them off? Do you have to boil wash them?

Sorry, lots of questions!

Balloonhearts · 28/10/2025 20:06

Primarks nighttime ones are surprisingly comfy. And cheaper, think they were £8 when I bought them.

No, mine don’t even feel as if I am having a period.

Normal wash.

Putthekettleon73 · 28/10/2025 20:16

Yes I rinse mine in the shower too. I have heavy flooding periods these days and I couldn't cope without my period pants. They are a back up to pads and toons on the first two heavy days then I just have the pants on their own. And it's so nice to feel.secure at night. Far less messy and icky than pads.

I am however giving in and getting a coil because the flooding is exhausting!!

Putthekettleon73 · 28/10/2025 20:17

They are cotton, not synthetic. Far less sweaty than normal plasticky pads.

EveryMeandEveryYou · 28/10/2025 20:21

We use the modibody and have the 6 packs for £128 because they last years and that's enough for a cycle with 2 heavy days where you need 1 change in the day. I am not sure I understand why you'd "forget" to wash them? Don't you just put them in with your laundry?

There is no mess! I literally collect them straight from wearing into the washing machine and do a wash a day. No mess at all of any kind.
