Anyone experienced this type of neck pain that can reassure me please?

Had a bad neck for about 4 days, I’m guessing it’s a pinched nerve because it hurts to move my neck and the pain radiates down my shoulder and in to my arm. Have been taking paracetamol and using heat rub but not much has helped. This morning I have woken up and the pain in both my neck and arm is so much worse, but now I’ve also got numbness/pins and needles down one side of my face, is this normal? Obviously I’ll call the Gp when it opens but just looking for a bit of reassurance!

Sorry but whilst the arm symptoms sound fairly typical of various msk problems/ trapped nerve I don't think it's usual to affect the face.

Make sure you get an assessment today by someone - GP, walk in centre, 111 if all else fails to ask if there's a hub locally to be seen. Sorry not very reassuring I know which was what you were looking for...

I had this, still do. Was how my frozen shoulder started. My neck and arm pain has always been more painful than my shoulder and initially i didn’t have any restrictions of movement. Hope yours isn’t that.

And definitely don’t let your gp triage fob you off with an appt in the future with an in house physio. With the face symptoms you need to get checked today.

Go get checked, but I think it can still be a pinched nerve.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve got an appointment at 9.50 so hopefully they will be able to help

How did it go OP?

How was the GP? Sorry that sounds like how I felt when I had a trapped nerve, it can be caused by bone problems like a herniated disc. That said I had surgery and it’s great now. Mine came on out of nowhere.
