Son wet the bed at premier inn

Cheesespaghetti · 27/10/2025 06:34

We are staying at a premier inn hotel.

This morning my 7 year old told us he’s wet the bed.
I will let hotel staff know when we go down to breakfast this morning and we’ll need bedding changed. Will we get charged extra for this?

They can charge for soiling the mattress, whether they will as it was a child is another thing.

All you can do is tell them and hope for the best.

Stopandlook · 27/10/2025 06:41

It must happen all the time. I’d strip the bed (including mattress protector) and they’ll change it all. I wouldn’t think you’d be charged.

Cheesespaghetti · 27/10/2025 06:42

The mattress itself is dry. We’ve stripped it all off.

I'd be really surprised if there weren't mattress covers , so check before you report as it may an issue of just changing the beds rather than potential damage to the mattress.

Cheesespaghetti · 27/10/2025 06:45

I’m pretty sure there are mattress covers as the mattress itself is dry

If the mattress is fine, it will be no problem. If you're worried for future stats, you can buy dry-nights bed mats. I used them for my DS when he struggled.

rwalker · 27/10/2025 07:03

Are you checking out today
If the mattress is fine I’d say nothing just strip all the beds and it’ll look like you’ve done that to be helpful

If you’re there for a few days I’d just tell reception you’ve spilt a drink and ask for new sheets

TreesOfGreen99 · 27/10/2025 07:05

Please be honest and report it. That way the mattress can be properly cleaned to remove any smells before fresh bedding is put on.

I think it'll be fine- it must happen with children a fair bit xx

OP said in her original post she is going to report it. Her query was whether or not she may incur a charge

There are, in all PI. I've stayed in dozens.

She’s also been advised to say nothing and just strip the bed 🤷‍♀️

Cheesespaghetti · 27/10/2025 07:12

I am going to tell them he wet the bed but I guess as mattress is dry I won’t incur a charge, fingers crossed.

Doesn't mean she's going to follow that advice though.

@ rwalker
“If you’re there for a few days I’d just tell reception you’ve spilt a drink and ask for new sheets”

Why the dishonesty? Are you teaching your DC there’s something shameful about having such an accident so you have to lie about it? Hotels must have accidents like this all the time (and not just from kids, either!)

Moltenpink · 27/10/2025 07:19

Unlikely to be charged, hotels are well equipped to deal with this, it happens frequently.

Dozer · 27/10/2025 07:19

What do you mean ‘there must be’ a mattress protector? If you’ve stripped the bed you will have seen whether there was one. Or do you mean that there wasn’t one but that the urine didn’t soak through the bedding before you stripped it?

Don’t do this. Why would you be so inconsiderate?

You would have seen it when you stripped the bed?

TimeForATerf · 27/10/2025 07:24

I’m sure it’s fine, I stripped a hotel bed and mattress protector after an accidental menstrual flooding leak. The hotel were fine, I bet they’ve seen worse.

fatcat2007 · 27/10/2025 07:25

My kid has wet the bed before in a hotel and I stripped the bed so the staff would have to handle it less. Then I went to reception and told them so I got clean bedding which they kindly made up for me. I just thanked them and was never charged, it wasn’t a big deal. I just felt like I wanted to do everything I could to avoid some poor person getting wee on their hand unexpectedly.

This is why I dont like staying in hotels you dont know who has slept in the bed or what they have done before you.
As others have said strip the bed and tell them at the front desk.

ForAzureSeal · 27/10/2025 07:41

This has happened to us. We stripped the bed, told the hotel, that was that. They were completely unphased.

MaplePumpkin · 27/10/2025 07:43

You’re probably better just asking them, not us.

The mattress protectors at PI are tight fitted- perhaps its not immediately obvious but they're there. Perhaps that's what they meant
