Son wet the bed at premier inn

We are staying at a premier inn hotel.

This morning my 7 year old told us he’s wet the bed.
I will let hotel staff know when we go down to breakfast this morning and we’ll need bedding changed. Will we get charged extra for this?

We had one stay where dc1 wet the bed one night and we told them with no issues. The following night dc2 had a massive nosebleed. Typical! Premier Inn and both nights no problem and very professionally dealt with. No charge. Like you we stripped and bundled everything so they didn’t have to but definitely be honest so it’s not a surprise to anyone.

MyDeftDuck · 27/10/2025 07:47

Be open and honest……you’ve stripped off the bed linen to minimise soiling. Just tell receptionist/head of housekeeping. If there’s a laundry bag in the wardrobe then consider putting it in that to isolate it when collected. They’ll have seen this, and no doubt worse, dozens of times.
Hope your DS isn’t distressed and upset….accidents happen, don’t they.

ChopstickNovice · 27/10/2025 07:48

DS did this last year in a PI. There was a mattress protector and it saved the mattress. I told them and they just made up the bed with new sheets for the next night. No charge.

Catsknowbest · 27/10/2025 07:43

The mattress protectors at PI are tight fitted- perhaps its not immediately obvious but they're there. Perhaps that's what they meant

If you take off the sheet you would 100% know if you were also then taking off a mattress protector.

Don’t do this. Why would you be so inconsiderate?

Why is that inconsiderate the bed isn’t wet the mattress isn’t wet
the only thing wet is the bedding that was being stripped and washed anyway

if you’ve ruined a mattress the absolutely tell them
but if the have a fixed charge for this I wouldn’t want to pay it unnecessarily for sheets that were being washed anyway

once again the bed isn’t wet, soiled or damaged

WoahThreeAces · 27/10/2025 07:51

I doubt you will be charged extra. My son had a mammoth nosebleed in a Premier Inn bed - I stripped it and told them at reception, they didn't bat an eyelid just thanked me for letting them know and said they would remake his bed.
I've also managed to get hair dye on their white towels (not from dyeing hair actually at the hotel! Just from it washing out) and they didn't care about that either!
Oh I do love a Premier Inn 😊

TinyTeachr · 27/10/2025 07:58

We didn't get charged for a wet bed at a premier inn a few weeks ago. I apologised and said it wasn't on the mattress and they said it was fine.

(Lokking at you, DS, who managed to wriggle off the enormous waterproof id brought with us.....)

Are you checking out today
If the mattress is fine I’d say nothing just strip all the beds and it’ll look like you’ve done that to be helpful

If you’re there for a few days I’d just tell reception you’ve spilt a drink and ask for new sheets

That’s gross. What about the person who sleeps in the bed next?

It’s a huge chain and I bet this happens all the time. They will have a process for dealing with it.

Just be honest OP.

clawmachine · 27/10/2025 08:11

I worked as a housekeeper for a short time at PI a few years ago, stripping the bed in advance and letting them know is probably the best thing to do. Very unlikely they will charge anything extra, and they will regularly have rooms left in a much worse state so don't worry.

CollectingBottleTops · 27/10/2025 08:17

There is always a mattress protector on the beds. I have a child who wet the bed until he was 10. Our default hotel was a Premier Inn so I would always bring a waterproof protector sheet as an extra level of protection for the mattress on the day bed. The pull out trundle mattress is attached to the base so you cannot tuck sheets in under it.

I worked in housekeeping but not at Premier. It happens loads and not just children, drunk men mainly. Just be honest so they can deal with it properly. There may be a procedure in place for it that they have to follow. Mattress protectors weren't something I had on my trolley unless I needed to replace one.

Orangeopera · 27/10/2025 08:19

My son did this once in a PI - about 20 years ago. They changed the sheets and there was no charge. They were nice about it.

Which Premier Inns do you usually stay in? So I know which ones to avoid.

This is why I dont like staying in hotels you dont know who has slept in the bed or what they have done before you.
As others have said strip the bed and tell them at the front desk.

I guess at the very least a hotel double bed has seen plenty of action. Does that mean you never go anywhere overnight?

HorseAreBetterThanHumans · 27/10/2025 08:31

We had this when DD was little (also in a Premier Inn) - i stripped the bed (mattress also dry) and put the sheets in the bath and told them. They reassured me that they had rugby players staying who did worse!

LancashireButterPie · 27/10/2025 08:33

They need to know so that the soiled bedding is processed correctly. In hospitals anything with body fluids contamination goes into a differently coloured bag so that the laundry staff can deal with it correctly. I'm sure PI is the same.

Where do you stay on holiday then? Or do you just never go away?

Cheesespaghetti · 27/10/2025 08:44

I told them at reception. They were fine about it. Made a noire that the bedding was soiled. Said they will clean the room and no charge.

Slightly different situation, but I had a tan fail whilst staying at a hotel, and I sent an email and said, I stayed in xx room last night. I'm really sorry but I've got fake tan all over the bed and towels. I am happy to pay for the situation to be rectified however that needs to be.
They replied and said any reputable hotel wouldn't consider ever charging for something like that, they launder the bedding and towels to get rid of worse all the time! Which yeah they probably do!

And they gave me a discount on my next stay!

Nannyfannybanny · 27/10/2025 08:46

We stayed in a premier inn with my dgs, he had a massive croup attack, pooed the bed, we chucked the solids down the toilet, sheets in the bath,to the nearest ED, where he was admitted, and told the hotel staff, they were absolutely fine and we weren't charged

I'm quite surprised by this; do laundry contractors have the resource/capacity to sort bedding and process differently? And what if something is mis-categorised, which could easily happen during the initial inspection and bagging, or later at the laundry.

I would have expected a blanket policy of boil washing everything

Coffeeishot · 27/10/2025 08:51

You wont be charged, they will just make up the bed fresh, don't worry if you are there for a few days see if you can get bed mats.

Contrarymary30 · 27/10/2025 08:53

It was someone who replied saying just say nothing. I always read through comments before commenting myself

have you missed the bit where the mattress is completely unaffected so can you explain why that’s gross

Possibly because your advice is to lie your way out of it so presumably not telling the truth is your default. Who knows what you really get up to.

LillyPJ · 27/10/2025 09:06

I'm sure they protect their mattresses and have probably had a lot worse! Just strip the bed , tell the cleaner and don't worry about it.
