Son wet the bed at premier inn

Cheesespaghetti · 27/10/2025 06:34

We are staying at a premier inn hotel.

This morning my 7 year old told us he’s wet the bed.
I will let hotel staff know when we go down to breakfast this morning and we’ll need bedding changed. Will we get charged extra for this?

They need to know so that the soiled bedding is processed correctly. In hospitals anything with body fluids contamination goes into a differently coloured bag so that the laundry staff can deal with it correctly. I'm sure PI is the same.

I'm sure PI have all their bedding cleaned effectively.

Coffeeishot · 27/10/2025 09:10

I think the mattress protectors are waterproof ? I I imagine premier inn /hotel beds get all sorts on them

I am sure they do, and don't need divided up.

Possibly because your advice is to lie your way out of it so presumably not telling the truth is your default. Who knows what you really get up to.

Hilarious

Hilarious

Whether that's hilarious or not hardly matters.

The fundamental question is, why would you lie?

Mischance · 27/10/2025 09:18

You've stripped the bed and checked the mattress - the cleaner will do what is needed. Go and enjoy your day ..

MrsDoubtfire1 · 27/10/2025 09:20

Be honest and pay up!

Lavender14 · 27/10/2025 09:21

My ds did this recently, I stripped the bed before it could soak into the mattress and rang it down and the staff where we were staying were lovely about it. We didn't get charged. Kids can have accidents.

To avoid being unnecessarily charged for nothing

What are you on about, she has already told them

snowmichael · 27/10/2025 09:39

It depends upon the manager at the individual hotel
The fact that you stripped the bed immediately, and told them straight away means probably not

incognitomouse · 27/10/2025 09:41

I feel that this just be a semi-regular occurrence. My son once puked all over our room - and I mean beds, carpets the lot and the staff came and cleaned it up for us, no bother or complaint.

BrickBiscuit · 27/10/2025 09:42

You can sometimes speak direct to housekeeping, if you meet them (or go looking for them) going about their rounds. Depends on timing. They should be happy to sort out without bothering reception. You can thank them personally. I'd leave them a tip too, but that's up to the guest.

Whyjustwhy83 · 27/10/2025 09:43

My son's done this and no charge and it was on the mattress not much though. We stripped the bed and staff sorted it

How can they be charged for nothing?

HornyHornersPinger · 27/10/2025 09:44

No. My daughter projectile vomited in a PI bed, I went to reception at 2am crying and apologising and they told me not to worry, they get far worse from drunken guests. They changed the bed (I helped) and were very kind.

Are you checking out today
If the mattress is fine I’d say nothing just strip all the beds and it’ll look like you’ve done that to be helpful

If you’re there for a few days I’d just tell reception you’ve spilt a drink and ask for new sheets

How could you possibly think that would be okay? The cleaning staff will have to handle bedding with urine on it. It’s disgusting. We’ve all had to do it at some point and it’s going to be part of the job, but it would be nasty to leave them to just find that out rather than warn them.

LancashireButterPie · 27/10/2025 08:34

Where do you stay on holiday then? Or do you just never go away?

I do. If I worried about what went on in a bed before me I’d never sleep in any bed other than my own. It would rule out hotels, B&Bs, Airbnbs, Lodges, chalets, friends’ houses etc.

tumtumtumtime · 27/10/2025 10:08

@Cheesespaghetti honestly don’t worry, if the mattress is dry and not smelly just strip the bed …do you think people tell hotels when they have been having messy sex in the bed! I had an adult ( in a 5 star hotel ) who pooed the bed once then dripped all the way to the bathroom , and plenty of people who have left used condoms on the floor, so chambermaids have seen it all !

spoonbillstretford · 27/10/2025 10:13

Well done on stripping the bed. DD2 was horribly sick one time on holiday. I stripped the bed and cleaned everything up as much as possible and told reception.

emilysquest · 27/10/2025 10:27

We had a funny/horrific experience in an Air B&B in Sofia a few years ago. DS's bed was the living room couch which folded out but the couch cushions were on top acting as the mattress of the bed iykwim. DS wet the bed. We discovered this a hour before we were due to be at the airport!

We stripped the bed, washed the sheets in the bath, washed the cushions with facecloths and shampoo and then proceeded to use the hairdryer and the iron to dry them all. I will never forget the scene of me with the hairdryer and DH with the iron frantically trying to get them dry. We got the cushions dry by ironing them over and over. We were never going to get the sheets totally dry, so we put them in a pile in the bathroom and threw two wet towels on top to explain the dampness. We just made the flight! No feedback from the apartment owner so I assume we got away with it!

Dollymylove · 27/10/2025 10:31

They have mattress protectors. Pretty sure they will have dealt with worse than a bit of wee!!

grumpygrape · 27/10/2025 09:16

To avoid embarrassment, to avoid being charged when the mattress wasn't wet etc. I'm not saying I personally would lie about it but I can see why people would. At the end of the day the sheets will all be washed the same way.

exhaustedbeinghappy · 27/10/2025 10:43

They won’t mind, if you’ve stripped the bed and the mattress is ok - my DD unexpectedly got her period one night at a premier inn, they just said to put the sheets in the bath and they’d sort it
