I’ve had a hard week! Work trouble, kids playing up. Tell me something lovely that’s happened to you this week to cheer me up.

My toddler DGS when picking him up from nursery this week, cupped my face in his sticky, paint splattered hands and said, "You're beautiful Grandma".

My daughter is home for a week after her first term at uni. I haven't seen her in 2 months and she is still only 17. I am lying on my phone waiting for her to wake up (we got back very late last night and she was already in bed asleep). My youngest son is so excited he can see her soon.

Nothing big here, I am just very content in the moment. I'm sitting wrapped on my sofa with my cuppa looking at the grey sky and the autumn trees and knowing that I don't need to go anywhere or do anything today!

My wife walked out 6 months ago after 14 years - with no word or warning. Came home from work one evening with my daughter and she was gone. She exploded our worlds.

Six months of despair and hate and panic. But now here we are - house is sold, I've found a beautiful little home for me and the children and I've started the divorce. And I'm sitting on my sofa in my little house with the front door open onto a quiet road with birds singing and the sun streaming through.

I don't cry about it anymore. I'm free.

Ds16 invited me to the cinema next weekend to see a film genre we both love.
I told him he could go with his mates if he wanted but he said that he hung out with them loads so would rather go with me.

We saw two pretty little red squirrels on Brownsea Island yesterday.

DD2 young adult with learning disabilities was overcharged by a taxi driver. Which isn’t lovely. But what is lovely is that she had the confidence to point out the amount on the meter was lower than the amount she had just tapped on the card reader. The driver apologised and gave her the overpayment back in change.

Kindness of strangers

DH now relies on a mobility scooter to get out and about. One of his pleasures is coffee out in a coffee shop with plenty of people watching opportunities.

on Saturday the most accessible one was very full. The only free table was in a formed which didn’t have mace for his scooter. I was just going to suggest we go elsewhere when one f as moly offered to leave early so we could use their table and another lady offered to swap over to the corner table so we could have hers. Then the family next to the corner table just slid over to it leaving plenty of space for us.

such kindness, I rushed to get the coffee to let me wipe away a tear or two in private.
