trigger warning - just a quick question for some reassurance, my period this month was about 7 days late on day 40 of cycle, once it come it was like my typical period, heavy for a few days then lighter and lasted 7 days. 2 days after my period finished I had protected sex and the day after I had very little brown discharge I just put it down to old blood left from period. This was Wednesday, last night Friday night had sex again, was dry down there sorry tmi again protected sex, and today around 12ish I’ve started bleeding, it’s pinky/red/brown and mostly when I wipe after going for a wee. I would say it’s not spotting but light bleeding like you get on the last day of period. I do suffer with health anxiety a little and I’ve been worried all day 🥲 just wondering if this can be normal? Thank you!

You need to contact GP and get their advice.

It could be one of many things but you must get advice from a GP.
I would be asking for a scan, but also talking about menopause related options if that's appropriate for you.
It's something I experience but I have regular checks because it's not normal and there should always be a reason for it.

Pop to see your GP, OP. No one here can diagnose you. You know, though, that there are many benign causes for this too.

Tiggermad · 25/10/2025 20:55

Just go to the Doctors.
Better to be safe than sorry.
Could be nothing. But at least you Will know. Any doubts just get it checked.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 25/10/2025 21:01

There are lots of reasons why this can happen and plenty of them are harmless. Get it checked out. As others have said go to your GP, it’s the only way you’ll get an answer that you can feel confident in.

Had similar, was cervical erosion and the tissue was irritated by sex . Gp refered me to gynae for a scan. Better safe than sorry but hopefully and likely nothing to worry about.

I had CIN3 and the bleeding symptom was immediate. It was light, bright and straightaway. There was pain as well. That was 15 years ago.

In later life I’ve occasionally had some pain and spots of blood, but I put this down to other gynaecological health. I went to 2 x GPs who could find nothing, a GUM clinic who could find nothing and referred me to a different clinic to address pain (a year or more ago, still not got through the waiting list). However, I’ve found improvements by allowing my hair-down-there to grow naturally. It seems to assist with natural lubrication. Christ, this is TMI.

Thank you everyone.
I did have an internal scan 5 months ago for other reasons and all okay and my smear 2 and half years ago was normal. Wondering if it was just old blood from period combined with sex

Some possible causes come under the heading of totally non-serious in the long term, but only if dealt with promptly eg pelvic infection or ectopic pregnancy (worth doing a test?). So make sure the GP sees you ASAP. Also, if you develop pain, then it's an emergency

Mummyofko · 25/10/2025 21:17

I done a few tests when I was late on my period and they were all negative then my period come. I did speak to the gp when my period was late and she said it’s normal and it can happen occasionally. I will ring again on Monday
