Never been acceptable for kids to ride bikes and microscooters in shops

Half term here and times I shop during school holidays, I see more kids riding their bikes and microscooters inside shops. Plus a few kids skate on Heelies. Don’t get much of this during weekends, but it’s there.

Since when did it become ok in some parents’ minds it’s fine for their DC to ride these things in shops? It has never been the case. Saw a security guard asking a mum to get her DC off their microscooter. The mum screamed at the guard saying her child has rights to ride where he wants. Err, no.

Has anyone been severely injured by a kid ploughing into them? If the person is elderly, they could have broken their hip and later died.

During the summer holidays, I was in a supermarket and saw a child on a microscooter hitting the side of a freezer cabinet. People said the child deserved that. I didn’t say anything.

I know that the weather for most of us this week is rubbish, but that doesn’t mean you let your DC ride bikes and microscooters inside shops

Total agreement here. There is no possible argument for this.

It's not acceptable and if parents don't have the common sense to realise that then the store should be asking to leave every single time. It's entitled people again , thinking that they can do what they want where they want and sod everyone else.

I would agree with them too!
There was a story from the US about a woman successfully suing a supermarket because she was knocked over by a child wearing heelies, the child was her's! Not sure how true this is but as Americans seem to sue for everything I am tempted to believe it.

Thanks, this comment made me laugh really quite a lot and for quite a long time!

Have you seen Afterlife?

I look forward to seeing the inevitable Mumsnet lunatic defending their child's right to ride around Lidl on an e-scooter.

The kids do it in my town too but they’re out without their parents in little gangs of 10 year olds. I’m always worried someone’s going to smash their skull open.
