Is panelling nice or just “Chavvy”?

Just read a post online where someone said panelling is “chavvy”! I’m a little upset as I was planning to panel my hallway.

It’s a new build but I just feel the hallway needs something. Hallway is quite large. What do others think? Please be honest

This thread has taught me that people spend a lot more time thinking about their hallways than I do. I just painted mine a light greyish blue, put down a berber twist carpet in a hardwearing neutral colour and put some pictures up.

If you have a decently sized space, it's a great opportunity to style it so it reflects your personality - as some posters have suggested with fabulous art, sculptures, statement plants, etc.

Maybe that is my issue - a small, functional hallway 😳

No panelling, but our house is about 12 years old, so relatively newish - it was beige everywhere before which I hated and now it’s completely different! Hope the pics attach properly.

wow, love the doors, please can i ask what colour is it and what range? did you use a primer?

I wouldn't say it was chavvy at all but it's a fashion thing, a bit like artex, and like artex, once it's up it will be a nightmare to take down and make good if you want to go back to painted walls or wallpaper.

Thank you! It’s Invisible Green by Little Green. Yes, I think the decorator used a primer first.
