to think that DS2's school is being unfair?

DS2 attends a small primary school, only one class per year group. This year the school have decided to take all of them to a local amusement park. They say that as everyone is feeling the pinch at the moment that they will heavily subsidise the cost of the bus but we will all have to pay the entrance fee for our child(ren) - Fair enough no problem with that.
This is the bit I think that is unfair - every family has to pay £2.50 towards the bus regardless of how many children you have got. I disagree totally with that, why should I pay as much for one seat as the family down the road who will use 4? It is not the cost it is the principal. Dh says just pay it but I disagree.

You went to the headteacher to ask if you could pay 83.3p!
Your poor child must be mortified. I would have been if my Mum had done something like this.
I hope you now realise you are being irrational.

Unfortunately that sort of reaction will probably stop the school from being generous in the future.

How fucking petty?

Yeah but something for the staff to keep guffawing about all year.

Op - when you're enjoying the space surrounding your seat at the Christmas Concert (2 tickets per family if your school is like ours) remember your 'space' has been 'subsidised' by the families with 2 or more children. If the school was filled with children with no brothers and sisters there would only be standing room for all the audience!

There are many more examples like this but I really can't be bothered...

Bloody Hell. I bet the staff were mightly peed off/laughed their pants off at you. There they were voluntarily (they dont have to) organising a trip and racking their brains how to give your kids a great day out at an affordable price for all and you go and see the head about two pounds bloody fifty. I'd have been tempted to cancel the whole thing but then that wouldn't have been fair on the kids.

Bump for the night shift.....

It is long, but it is worth it....

Cammelia · 07/06/2008 22:29

OP: the price is not per seat ie. per child.

Like someone said on the thread about half-way down, the coach is a certain price (irrespective of how many children travel on it).

Therefore the school has divided the cost (after deducting the subsidy) by the number of relevant families.

So that each household pays the same.

Get it?

Good, now get over it.

Have just read this whole thread to the other half and he is ROFLHAO, he suggested a solution that involved your wheelchair some roap and the coach bumper

Pay the £2.50 if your that skint we can have a whip round.

Please note no offence to wheelchair users meant
