to think that DS2's school is being unfair?

DS2 attends a small primary school, only one class per year group. This year the school have decided to take all of them to a local amusement park. They say that as everyone is feeling the pinch at the moment that they will heavily subsidise the cost of the bus but we will all have to pay the entrance fee for our child(ren) - Fair enough no problem with that.
This is the bit I think that is unfair - every family has to pay £2.50 towards the bus regardless of how many children you have got. I disagree totally with that, why should I pay as much for one seat as the family down the road who will use 4? It is not the cost it is the principal. Dh says just pay it but I disagree.

Ok people choose to have larger families. But it is still one set of parents and therefore one or possibly two incomes, irrespective of the number of children.

But honestly - £2.50 - it's 2 loaves of bread. can't believe such a fuss is being made, and am at suggesting to head that parents could club together.

Chandon · 05/06/2008 15:27

YABU.

Clubbing together as a family ...how low can you go woman, have you no self respect?!

I cannot believe you went to the head...

I cannot believe she didn´t laugh in your face !

For some reason you hate bigger families, and are completely infuriated by the fact that you are indirectly subsidising their trip.

It´s only 2.50, just opt out then as your DC is too tall to enjoy it anyway

It´s all just very very unattractive...

cupsoftea · 05/06/2008 17:06

have to disagree £2.50 or not - why should someone be subsidizing others kids I'd be embaressed if at this school as some parents who really struggle could be paying out for my kids.

NotABanana · 05/06/2008 17:13

I don't think anyone is subsidising anyone.

Except for the school subsidising everyone.

ConnorTraceptive · 05/06/2008 17:16

This reminds of a (ex) friend who took my onion rings from my plate to make up for the fact that I couldn't give her the 50 pence change I owed her and because I love onion rings i do

Also the same friend who ask one of our other friends to help her move house one weekend. I wasn't doing anything so I tagged along and helped.

We stopped at the garage to get a bottle of coke and she paid for my mates as a thanks for helping but not mine as I was there through choice

PrimulaVeris · 05/06/2008 17:20

ffs how many families in a small school actually have 4 children? And of those who do, how many have 4 at the school all at once?

Good grief you're having a highly subsidised trip to a theme park - most schools cant or wont do that ... you're complaining that teh park is for under-10's when the majority of children in the school are under 10.

I'm sorry but you strike me as being unreasonable and selfish in the extreme.

NotABanana · 05/06/2008 17:22

falls off again

ConnorTraceptive · 05/06/2008 17:25

The final nail in the coffin was when she made us do a completely seperate trip for her mattress as she didn't want risk it touching other furniture.

So there we are in a feck off great lorry with nothing in it but a mattress

Anyway I digress the OP is being very mean spirited

Ledodgy · 05/06/2008 17:30

Sorry but you are being a nutter. It is £2.50 everyone is paying this token amount get over it ffs as for your more 'average' families comment if you're that bothered have more kids then you too can be money grabbing.

I can't believe you're getting your knickers in a knot over £2.50!

Just keep your child at home instead.

kitsmummy · 05/06/2008 18:49

errr, get a life

DiscoDizzy · 05/06/2008 18:50

FFS what a waste of people's time. Its £2.50 FGS

Kimi · 05/06/2008 19:09

I just had to pay £9.00 towards the cost of DS2s school trip and that is only to get them there, parents have to bring them home.

Pay up with a smile.
