So I need to really start getting my life outside of work into a better routine - part of this is because I have some volunteering responsibilities and part of it is because I really want to make a concerted effort to take my hobby professional.
I write, I win competitions, I've had stuff published, but I don't spend enough time on my projects because I always get the 'I could be hoovering instead' guilts and I am also a bit crap at setting boundaries with work. I don't work Fridays... but in the last three months I have worked every other Friday because it's so busy. It took immense iron will not to check my emails today and not to phone someone who texted me late last night (on my work phone) to ask if they could have a telephone catch up today. I am not required to be on call when I am not in work - those who need it have my personal details for emergencies - and, as I said, I don't get paid for Fridays. I am getting better at turning off my work tech when not in work. But not good enough. I need to treat my leisure time more like work.
I think what I need is an app which is a combined calendar/to do list/ kind of productivity combo. Does such a thing exist? It's already enough of a pain having to cross reference everything with my work diary as I sometimes have evening and weekend meeting. So I want something to make sure that I put time aside to write/work on my podcast/enter competitions/manage my volunteering time effectively. Any recommendations? Needs to be Apple-friendly and I don't mind paying for something that has lots of bells and whistles...
