To be somewhat proud of being vaccinated?

With all the anti vax bollocks going about at the moment I’m somewhat proud of myself for actually going and getting vaccinated. I just think it’s mad that people won’t!

Proud is an odd reaction

I won't be getting a covid jab. I've nol caught it and I was really ill after the first compulsory one.

I've never had a flu jab because I've never had flu either.

I'm not proud of it though. It's hardly an achievement!

Compulsory? For who? My elderly mum and stepdad never had it

I was pro vax all my life. But it was seeing the complications my husband suffered after getting the AstroZeneca covid jab that has really made me pause for the first time. I believe that jab has since been pulled. I just never would have believed someone could end up hospitalised from a vaccine.

I got both covid jabs (the Pfizer ones, forget the name, they were fine) and I make sure my children have the basic ones but as for "optional" ones, I wouldn't anymore. The children do not have covid jabs. They can make that choice when they are old enough.

I have similar feelings. My husband has been to hell and back (well, actually he will never be fully "back" as some of the damage is permanent) following a severe reaction to the Covid vaccination last autumn (we've been told it was most probably the Covid vaccination, but that it could have been the flu vaccination, or a combination of both, as we had both on the same day).

We've both always had all vaccinations that have been offered to us. DH, understandably, is now saying he never wants to have any more because he's afraid of something similar happening next time.

I've been invited to have the flu jab, as has DH. He's not going to have it. I'm wavering.

I’m not getting another Covid vaccine or anything else, I cannot afford to be that unwell and off work again just to be protected for “other people” 🙄 proud of advocating for myself yes

I’m proud of you too, OP. I’m proud of myself too. It feels bloody lonely at the moment to be someone who tries to protect themselves and other people based on the scientific evidence available. I genuinely get depressed when talking with colleagues, friends and family who seem to take pride in basing important decisions on a TikTok video. I’m fed up of pretending that that’s a valid choice and it’s everyone’s right to choose, but having people not supporting my right to choose because I’m “just falling for Big Pharma’s lies” and “being a sheep”. I am genuinely baffled by where we find ourselves as a society right now in so many ways.
