Has anyone seen this? A German woman gave birth to her 10th child apparently without fertility treatment. Do you believe this? Surely its not possible?!

I would be amazed if that's possible without ivf.

EsmeSusanOgg · 17/10/2025 09:20

It seems unlikely. But it may be there is something unusual about this woman. Perhaps having children in her 50s prolonged her fertile period? If fertility treatment was used - it will come out.

Yeah that's what I thought but apparently it was natural and she had most of her 10 kids after the age of 50! I thought its even hard for ivf to be successful at that age?

Maybe sometimes there is a freak of nature and unusual things happen.
I'm just glad its not me it happened to.

AliceMaforethought · 17/10/2025 09:22

Whatever the reality, this is dreadful and not to be lauded.

OverNotOver · 17/10/2025 09:23

It’s highly unlikely, but not impossible. At the other end of the scale, the youngest ever mother gave birth at age 5. Outliers exist in nature.

What surely not? How is that even possible?!

Precocious puberty and molestation by a family member, I think.

Biology isn’t physics. There are generalisations, trends, things that are normal and abnormal. But not laws. Most female bodies are capable of getting pregnant between about 14 and 40, some much younger, some much older, some never.

lastones · 17/10/2025 09:36

I think I read about her before (the link isn't opening for me for some reason). Ginger haired Jewish Ukrainian woman, correct, and the baby was born a few months ago? If I remember correctly, the thing with her is that she never went into menopause for some reason (there was an interview with her that I recall). She also looks max mid 40s at her age (with clearly no surgical / enhancements), so believable.

Oh gosh that's awful! Poor little girl. How would someone that young even be able to give birth? The pain is so much for adult women it doesn't bear thinking about a child going through it!

She looked blonde in the pictures I saw but coukd be dyed and she lives in Germany but from Ukraine I think. Wow how didnt her body go into menopause? How does that happen?

2nd coming of christ, perhaps 😂

Biology isn't physics is such a clever line. I do wonder about the sort of person who would want 8 kids in their 50's and 60's though, and the chances of her seeing this one to 18 in good health can't be much more than evens.

Spookyspaghetti · 17/10/2025 09:49

I didn’t believe it (about the 5 year old) but there is a whole wiki page about the case. How sad and shocking for the little girl.

It's a very sad story. Her name was Lina Medina, if you want to Google her. She had a C-section and then her son was raised as her bother.

I think they suspected her father, but nothing was proven.

HeyThereDelila · 17/10/2025 09:50

Appalling for the child either way, but I can’t believe she didn’t go abroad and use “donor” eggs.

Dollymylove · 17/10/2025 09:51

Why would anyone wish to bring a baby into the world whose siblings are old enough to be its grandparent? Who is going to look after this poor child when mother is in her dotage? Im 65 and look after my grandchildren sometimes. I love them.more than life itself but im exhausted after a few hours.
Not saying its impossible but its a bit unlikely to conceive naturally at 66

Found! Well, maybe strawberry blonde.

I mean - she does look crazily young for a 66 year old, to an extent where I can totally believe she's a medical abnormality. I pass no judgment on how wise was it to have a baby at that age - I understand her husband is significanly younger than her so it is not like the children will be left full orphans / unsupervised even if she deteriorates fast. We don't see similar judgment passed for men who become fathers at that age, so I would give the same courtesy to a woman.

Indeed. I was once at a pub quiz where they used that as a 'ooh, just fancy that!'-style tie-breaker.

It's horrific to use it as a lighthearted 'fun fact', when it only came to be because of the rape of a young child.

For all we know, there may well be other girls of a similar age (and a bit older) with precocious puberty who biologically could become pregnant, but mercifully don't - because they are never predated on by an evil paedophile rapist.

ACatNamedRobin · 17/10/2025 09:55

Well if she never went into menopause (and seems to look significantly younger than her age) it may be that she also has a significantly different aging process?

I.e. as a complete medical/biological abnormality, she's aging much slower than most people?

This is actually a fascinating thought.

Is she actually 66? With the news this week that there may be lots of pension fraud in the blue zones, is that a possibility here?

It looks like she has been in public eye for nearly all her life since relatively young years with her social activism / arts involvement

Oh, apologies, I’m not familiar with her name. So she’s definitely 66. Weird then!
