To be climbing the walls waiting to hear back after a “you’re the preferred candidate” chat?

Had a big university interview last week, then a follow-up on Monday where they said I’m the preferred candidate and just needed to “go back to the wider panel.” It’s now gone mid-week and I’ve heard nothing. I know university HR is slower than charity sector HR but I’m checking my phone like a teenager waiting for a text.

Would it be unreasonable to assume I’ve got it or am I setting myself up for disappointment?

Hmm I’d be questioning this by now. What does preferred candidate even mean unless they’re offering you a job?!
