Temporary accommodation unsafe?

Ok so my friend is saying I am being unreasonable and expecting too much?

I’ve moved into temporary accommodation after fleeing DV. I was in a hotel for three weeks before given a two bedroom flat.

i moved in, a week later we were all ill. I was wondering why but Friday I smelt gas. Turns out we have a gas leak, not a problem I thought - can be fixed. Cadent discovered there’s a random love has meter under the floorboards which no one knows how or why it’s there. My gas has been off since the property letting agent who is managing on behalf of the council told me it’s nothing to do with them and to ask downstairs. I’ve asked downstairs who said they have no idea either, I’m still without gas and no further it being repaired.

when I spoke to the neighbour downstairs it’s an gentleman in his 50s, he told me the last tenant flooded the kitchen bringing down his ceiling and it’s still unfixed. He made me aware that I’m technically walking on his ceiling, just floorboards - carpeted!! I said oh I thought I could hear your tv abit loud, he agreed and even told me he can see into my flat at some points of the skirting board!!!!

I am super stressed now, no reply from the council, the letting agent isn’t responding and I am stuck in this hell house. Understandably the gas leak and can get fixed eventually but I now feel highly uncomfortable a random stranger can see into my home with my children, plus that can’t be good health/safety wise. Please am I over reacting in pushing to get rehoused in a suitable placement?
