Baby gender reveal party

OK new to these party things when it comes to baby's in 2025,i have been invited to a friend's gender reveal party am I expected to buy presents like a baby shower how does it work? Absolutely not bothered by buying stuff but don't want to look a idiot if I do advice needed thanks!

Go along if you must but why buy presents for heavens sake?
Do people just organise these things just to milk people of gifts? That's what it seems like.
Just go along and ooh and aah when they reveal the gender but don't feel obliged to give gifts for heaven's sake. Don't encourage this nonsense

Well it’ll be a girl or a boy but you have to look surprised and amazed at the reveal even though it’s one of two options 🤣

idiotic I can’t bear the idea it’s attention seeking at its highest level. For a good friend I’d go but get away would I buy a present (I’d probably take a bottle of wine. For me.) I save presents for when the baby is born.

id treat it like a baby shower , unless they’ve got a separate party coming up? Take a little gift of muslins or a unisex babygrow , teething toy etc. x

I wouldn't attend such nonsense at all but if I did I certainly wouldn't be taking a present. Presents are for after the birth.

I'd just take a dessert or something for everyone.

You can almost guarantee the 'gender' reveal party will be followed by a baby shower, a Christening and a 1st birthday party, as is so often the case with grabby people.
