AIBU to think I won’t be made redundant

My job is currently up for redundancy, the company are reducing the amount of PAs that they have. We sadly need to loose 3 PAs out of 12 and we had to go to interview to decide.. we find out the outcome in a few days time.. it’s been a long month.

since my interview I’ve had feedback from both the people interviewing such as;

• you scored highly
• you scored higher than those of your level ( 4 of us )
• you answered like you was going for a promotion, the roles in our entity are beneath you, you deserve more like our London entity, there’s a role going, it’s more money etc.
• you’ve got nothing to worry about.

today, my manager said she messaged the girl In the London entity and they said ‘Just got off my call with the process guys, I’m hopeful, just a small hurdle but all looks positive’

this was about me, what does this mean? The jobs that are supposedly beneath me, are my level now… which I’m happy to stay at tbh.. I was happy in my job.

they’re basing it on how well we answered the interview, so surely if the London entity falls though, I should be being offered 1 of the 9 even if the available roles are my level now and they think I deserve more.

surely if they’re putting me for a promotion, they’ll want to keep me regardless?!

and surely if I get made redundant I have a leg to stand on if they said I scored highest and I went last!!!!!!!

AIBU to myself getting my hopes up? My manager thinks I’ve got nothing to worry about and I’ll get the promotional role no problems but the ‘small hurdle’ is worrying me!!

I would be cautiously optimistic. When do you find out?

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. What are your options should the worst happen?

Cry, because I love my job.

id defo appeal the decision, as they said it was all based on competency based interviews and the lady interviewing told me I scored the highest, so even if the London entity falls though… by the process I should be entitled to one of the 9 roles.

Nothing is a certainty! I wouldn't bank on anything until you have a job offer and the paperwork in hand.

Does all sound very positive though.

I've been offered countless promotions due to my excellent reputation at work that never actually materialise, so maybe I'm a cynic.
