He has just come home and informed me that he has to go on a golf day - Bernard, his boss, has told him he has to go because Bernard himself doesn't want to!

Well for one moment I don;t believe Bernard doesn't want to but that is another matter!

So DH said - I won't have to use holiday for it though as told Bernard that I didn't want to do it and he is MAKING me!!!!!!

Twinkie - raising eyebrows 'When is it darling?'

Tosshead - 'Oh, July 1st, so youill have to leave work early to get the kids'

Twinkie - trying so hard not to raise her voice - 'Did you also tell him it was your daughter's 8th birthday?'

Cue the sound of the wind blowing and tumbleweeds knocking around the kitchen!!!!

I am fuming - feckin tosser is so excited about going to play a game of wanky feckin golf that he forgot it was his daughters birthday and I will be having a half day so we could tke her out for some supper anyway - well we can' now - I can't speak I am so bubbling with rage!!!!

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!

He has gone for a run because I want to kill him but can' bring myself to even lookatr him!

YANBU, but DP says it's your own fault for marrying such a spineless weakling of a man that he won't stand up to his boss. "Either that or he's a damned liar". Me personally, I think he's just being a perfect example of why men can't exist without women to run their lives.

I bet he's thinking long and hard about how to rectify the situation right now. Surely he'll call off the golf ....?

milknosugar · 04/06/2008 18:43

yanbu. you need to milk this. get him to pay for you both to go to get your hair done or something as a girly treat, go to see a film he wants to see (or something else but tell him you went to that one) and go somewhere extra nice and buy dessert for him and then eat it yourselves and tell him how fab it was. dd can still have a lovely bday but i would also be angry

lizziemun · 04/06/2008 18:47

Why cant you go out to supper without him. And make him take out you all out another day.

cheeset · 04/06/2008 18:58

I am sure he loves DD dearly, but maybe this is a gift horse in the mouth situation and he would love to play golf. Does he have to go this particular day?

Can you go out for supper say 6pm, he should finish by then?

CountessDracula · 04/06/2008 19:01

Can't you say
clearly you wanker forgot it was dd's birthday. I am planning a surprise so you can tell Bernard that you forgot you have a prior engagement and he will have to find someone else to have fun do his dirty work

Hassled · 04/06/2008 19:05

I'd just go ahead with the birthday meal as planned, and have a wonderful time. His conscience and guilt will eat away at him for years, possibly, and that will be punishment enough.

Twinkie1 · 04/06/2008 19:44

He just asked me if I have a probem - I nearly whacked him with a frying pan - and I was planning a surprise party for his birthday this weekend - now I thinks it will be his credit card paying for it and DDs and we will go out wihout the spineless arse.

I think he is more a damned liar - normally him and Bernard fight over who is going to go on these days and as it is at Wentworth and that is round the corner from Bernards house I am sure he would have wanted to go.

MEN!!!

But he is a idiot man so sadly his conscience won't eat away at him as he doesn't have one will have forgotten about it all the next day!!!

Give him hell Twink and i pmsl at your conversation description

UniversallyChallenged · 04/06/2008 20:08

I suppose we all make stupid mistakes - though that is quite a one!
But surely once you have reminded him of his child's date of birth he will just cancel the golf??? Surely

UniversallyChallenged · 04/06/2008 20:08

that should have been reminded, sorry

am still getting used to these new fangled computers
