You're right, this is bollocks. Have you spoken to PALS?

Octavia64 · 13/10/2025 01:43

Yep. There should be suppprt out there.

my DD waited five years and then we went private.

Hi @Eatinghurts I’m so sorry that you’re struggling and that you’ve been treated this way.

I work for a mental health NHS Trust, so I would advise you complain to PALs (via the hospital Trust your secondary care face2face appointment should have been at).

Also please report your GP surgery and the Hospital Trust to the CQC (Care quality commission) - https://www.cqc.org.uk/give-feedback-on-care?referer=contactus

Then in the meantime, please go back to your GP and ask for a face to face appointment (ideally with a clinician that deals with mental health, if one is available). At the appointment tell your doctor all
your mental and psychical symptoms. You mention trauma, so I am just basing this on if you have PTSD or present with symptoms:

As per the NICE Guidelines for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, GPs should take responsibility for assessment and initial coordination of care. This includes determining the need for emergency physical or mental health assessment

Absolutely nobody is “not bad enough” to not receive treatment.

It’s so hard but you need to advocate for yourself.

I hope you manage to get some support and treatment soon. Please don’t give up.

@CherrieTomaties Thank you for the feedvack on next steps I will complain to PALS. I appreciate people get sick and appointments can need to be rescheduled but surely there is an acceptable time frame to receive support.

I do not have a diagnosis. There was some talk of CPTSD However, this is more from multipple events over the past 18 months.

I beleive that the IAPT and CMHT have different perceptions of needs. The IAPT seem to be assuming I injurred myself which is both untrue and were it to be true would mean they should be urgently looking for support from crisis teans. Possibly not biut I would argue possibly to the point of in patient treatment E.G. comments like you can trust me enough to share the voices made you hurt yourself. I also wonder if they think its a PD. Lots of comments on not engaging with therapy. When I point out I have letters from a treating therapist saying positive engagement highly motivated to make positive changes vut this disrupted by trauma they say I could have paid thenmn told write whatever.

the CMHT are saying no evidence of self harm. Show signs of appropriate reaching out for support So obviously less they can put in place.

I would love EMDR as responded really well to three sessions in the past and would hope it would stop me getting in a loop waking from sleep feeling i an being hurt in the here and now

it sounds like I will possibly be offered 6 sessions of CBT for anxiety because of GAD7 scores but they wont assess trauma scores even though its a feeling that I am being hurt in the here and now that is the problem.
