Picked mine up today but struggling to book a delivery slot and I can't work out why ☹️

Completely agree and I usually get my shopping from them. Booths is my treat shop.

(and @Gatekeeper ) I think the opening of a large and now extended M&S foods sounded the end of Booths in Ripon.

PickAChew · 11/10/2025 18:18

We're peed off about that, too. It was worth the occasional 1 hour journey. We don't even have waitrose nearby to compensate. At least they deliver to us, though.

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow @Pickachew when me and dh have our 'grand day out' in Kendal. S.W durham to Ripon was easier but needs must Grin.

Durham itself for us. The A66 is a step too far from here!

DH took DS2 for a drive through the wilderness to Waitrose in Hexham, this afternoon. I got a couple of hours' peace out of it 😂

Enjoy your trip.

Day trip to Lytham for me, has a cafe and a wine bar, win win 😉

QueenMummyTheFirst · 12/10/2025 21:31

I'm in Yorkshire, but have never been to Booths. We have one within an hour, and I'm intrigued. If I make the trip, what items (vegetarian) should I look out for, and what is The Book - is it a posh Christmas catalogue?

jamimmi · 12/10/2025 21:58

Booked my delivery slot last Thursday, have 4 stores within a 20 min drive Lytham, StAnnes ,Penwortham and Fulwood. Dd at lancaster uni so can easily acess a 5th and a Please don't hate me, it'd a Preston based buisness.

Yes, it’s the food to order catalogue.

Booths have really nice cheese counters and some other fresh food counters, ours has a hot food counter but the others are fish and meat so no good to you. Can’t recommend anything specifically veggie but they will have something,

AutumnWalksWithRaindrops · 12/10/2025 23:58

This makes me so jealous every year when someone posts about the Booths Christmas book. We don’t have Booths in Scotland but I love shopping there when I’m south of the border and there’s one nearby.

Gatekeeper · 13/10/2025 15:58

@PickAChew went to the Kendal branch today but def preferred the Ripon one 😥

That is an impressive stack, though!

Do they all have someone minding the trolleys and helping you with them like the Ripon one?

No- the rotters! I used to love being handed a basket, "Here you are Madam". Bogs weren't a patch on the ones at Ripon either, probably because they are right next to the exit and every passing scratter in town comes in to use them snobby bugger

I will never forgive DD for not going to Lancaster Uni for just this reason

DS went there and I’ve never heard of it

The one in Lancaster is awful! I went in the other week and it’s looking so old and tired, had barely any stock and not even a customer toilet!

The ones in Garstang and Carnforth are nice though. I’ll be popping to Garstang for my Christmas book on my way to Aldi.

PauliesWalnuts · 13/10/2025 17:13

Gutted when the MediaCity one closed. As an inhabitant of north Manchester (sink estates, Reform uk voters, and lots of rain) I don't have a Waitrose OR Booths for miles and miles :-(

JaceLancs · 13/10/2025 17:20

The Lytham one is lovely
I can get easily to 5 branches - love the Xmas book and might be ordering Xmas/new year desserts
For years I have used them for Xmas meat order but have had issues with them so many times that this year will be the first I don’t buy Xmas meat there and will go to local farm shop butcher - it’s a pity because their normal meat range is very good and exceptional quality burgers sausages etc as well

Enigma54 · 13/10/2025 17:22

Knutsford here I come! ( 25 mins away!)

Hoppinggreen · 13/10/2025 17:42

I work in property and live nowhere near a Booths OR a Waitrose
I most definitely never ever book accompanied viewings for my clients in Knutsford so I can visit Booths or in areas with a large Waitrose, nope I never ever do that

Ooh yes the Lytham one is lovely, is that the one with the art gallery? I got told off on a previous year’s thread for saying there are 2 in Lytham and one is in St Anne’s 😂.

Gatekeeper · 13/10/2025 17:52

Ive eaten cod and samphire from Booths (good ol' whoopsies) plus spuds and black kale from the garden and am now reading the catalogue. Im only on page 10 but theoretically I am 6 clem heavier and £1000 lighter . Pic of cat just because

We have rain aplenty in Central Lancs, but also Booths aplenty and a Waitrose at Walton-le-Dale (edge of Preston). You should visit. It’s a short trip up the 61.

BewaretheIckabog · 13/10/2025 22:15

I love the Booths in Barrowford. I suspect most people, even the Booths’ lovers on this thread, could not pin Barrowford on a map.

I’m a north-westerner and couldn’t have done 5 years ago.

Barrowford is a lovely village with ridiculously cheap housing and good independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants but I genuinely think if Booths upped sticks and they ended up with a Morrisons or Tesco local there would be an overall decline in the retail and footfall.

Florencesndzebedee · 13/10/2025 22:51

I’m in the south but a relative sends one to me. I love drooling over the Xmas stuff.

BethBynnag86 · 13/10/2025 23:01

There's one in Kirkby Lonsdale.I'll be nipping in while I'm up there over half-term😁

I'm Northern, but our nearest Booths is a long way away! <weeps copious Christmas-pudding tears>

Same here. My nearest one is in Ilkley, 43 miles away 😢
