Yay!

As a Midlander, I am purely here to tell you how jealous I am.

I love Booths 😭

EwwSprouts · 11/10/2025 17:28

Recently holidayed in Windermere and introduced DS 21 to Booths. He was in awe! We're East Yorkshire so too far away from any which I suspect is a good thing for his bank account. However we did discover you can get Booths bags on Too Good To Go.

Bjorkdidit · 11/10/2025 17:14

Can the other Booths fans say if any of the Branches stand out or are they all much of a muchness?

Any located in interesting towns, especially in Lancashire? I know about the Ilkley and Settle ones but seeing as I go for days out and walks all over northern England, I'd always include a 'good' Booths in a trip.

They vary a lot in size. Some of the ones in places like Fulwood are relatively small supermarkets. The one in Chorley is a bigger but has no cafe. Penwortham is a huge store, as is Garstang. Penrith and Kendal are big stores too, I think. You can see pictures of the stores on their store locator so you can probably judge from those how big a store they are.

You can but I’ve yet to snag one, they are in high demand!

Fibrous · 11/10/2025 17:46

They closed down the one in Hale Barns, too, which is footballer central. I was really surprised, I thought if anywhere could support a Booths it would be Hale? I used to pop in on my way home from working down south as it's just off the motorway. It's now an Asda. Depressing.

Cousinchat · 11/10/2025 18:00

The Knutsford one is quite close to the M6.

FamingolosForDays · 11/10/2025 18:04

But what IS Booths?

Dirty Southerner here 🫡

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 11/10/2025 18:11

My nearest is Ilkley. About an hour away, but I happen to need to go there nect week end 😀

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 11/10/2025 18:13

ive managed to snag a couple of the too good to go bags and yes they’re good! I also love their meal deal in Ilkley the cinema is literally a couple of minutes walk from Booths, so I pop in grab my meal deal then hot foot it to the cinema!

My kids love the cheese counter as they’ll always let you have a try before you buy!

It’s a small family owned supermarket chain based in Preston. They’re quite focused on local producers in the NW but you can also buy the regular stuff.

Ooooooooohhh.... I was just talking to dh about this. Went to Ripon last week for my fix (my nearest branch) and it is closed!!!! Bliddy Tesco opening instead Sad

We're peed off about that, too. It was worth the occasional 1 hour journey. We don't even have waitrose nearby to compensate. At least they deliver to us, though.

Ohthedaffodils · 11/10/2025 18:44

I love the Penwortham and Garstang Booths. Penwortham is my nearest. Takes about 10 mins to get there.

Carnforth, Lancaster, Garstang 😊

Hesketh bank one is tiny. Burscough one is quite nice, as is Chorley. And Chorley also has m&s food across the car park, which strikes me as odd, given how rough the rest of town is.

Clitheroe has a cafe too

The town itself is not all that (not all of it is “rough” per se but a fair proportion is down at heel), but the broader borough is much more mixed with a lot of new builds in areas like Whittle, Clayton, Buckshaw, Euxton. The council are doing a lot to redevelop parts of the town centre like the extension where they are. Guess M&S decided none of the units was big enough for the full retail experience.

I do know that a lot of people now travel to Chorley to shop rather than places like Preston and Wigan because it’s less congested, easier and cheaper to park, no bus lanes or gates etc. The independent shops are pretty decent tbh.

coxesorangepippin · 12/10/2025 03:33

There's one in Barrowford, Lancashire

Yes! Gotta schlep to Knutsford to get my hit but it's worth it.

Same here. We went to Knutsford on Thursday on the day it was released. About 30 minutes for us

I live in the middle of two Booths stores (not smug at all), Lytham and St Annes, they are different layouts but same stock.
Only shop there for bits and treats, couldn't do a big shop there

Banaghergirl · 12/10/2025 15:03

I am Chorley born and bred and yes, like every town, there are some "rough" parts but we also have some very beautiful and far from rough areas. We are lucky to have both Booths and M&S in our town centre and both shops are always busy. Snobs who describe all Chorley as being "rough" obviously don't know it very well.

That bloody video “Chorley: Where people go to fight” really did not help. DC are pub going age now and have never seen a fight in a pub there.

I’m in the North. There are none near here. They all seem to be in the North West.

There are two in Yorkshire but that’s it, the rest are NW as Preston based.
