Trump should get Nobel Peace Prize

Aibu

So he has achieved a peace deal. Anyone else done that recently?

Give him the Peace Prize. Then go on and get Putin to agree peace.

Lobbying for it ought to discredit you from receiving tbh..it's very distasteful. A bit like David Beckham -when he moaned about not getting knighted he had to wait.. same should apply here in my opinion.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/10/2025 18:48

JudgeJ · 10/10/2025 15:26

I seem to recall Obama being quite embarrassed when asked why he thought he'd got it. Can one refuse it, like a knighthood and so on?

Apparently so, JudgeJ - I just looked it up and ones who have declined so far are Jean Paul Sartre in 1964 and le Duc Tho in 1973

At the very least Obama could have asked that he be reconsidered when he'd actually been President long enough to achieve something, but greed and lust for glory among politicians is hardly anything new

Why do I open threads with this sort of title? Why do I do this to myself? 😂

Same here. I brought popcorn but now I’m just angry at the people who seem to think all the violence that trump has either incited or ordered is somehow ok.

Wallaw1 · 10/10/2025 10:48

@rriffraff I think it's pretty widely agreed that Obama really didn't deserve it (and I'm an Obama fan). That doesn't make Trump deserving of it.

I think that even he was embarrassed by that. Still, there have been less-deserving recipients (Kissenger).

Can you imagine any sort of humility from Trump?

Greenmouldycheese · 10/10/2025 19:34

Yes he should but you'll just get rage from the uneducated bunch in here. They know nothing about anything yet scream the loudest. It's weird.

I know what's weird.

Auroraofthedawn · 10/10/2025 20:25

This thread is fucking hilarious hahahaha! You really should lay off the crack 😂

Mrsgreen100 · 10/10/2025 20:29

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Rexthesnail · 10/10/2025 20:32

The Darwin award would be more fitting

hmmnotreallysure · 10/10/2025 20:44

Jesus Christ.....I didn't think that real life people actually really thought he should have been awarded it. I'm gobsmacked that anyone in the real world thinks he's anything other than a dictator starting wars in his own country!!! You couldn't choose anyone less worthy.....(apart from Putin and Netanyahu of course).

CompoCompoComp · 10/10/2025 20:55

Take one look at the woman who has WON it.Read why she was given it out of 100s of nominees.
Then think about Trump - who deserved it? And this is ignoring the fact he was ELIGIBLE

GiraffesAtThePark · 10/10/2025 21:00

I think campaigning for the award should be a negative mark against you. It’s not in the spirit of the award.

It's up to the American people to decide who they vote for, I'm not an American.
If he achieves lasting peace in the ME, I'm happy for that to be recognised.

If only it was up to the American people to decide who they elect. Rather than Elon Musk.

You do know Biden is not POTUS anymore right ?

It seems that, in common with many Chump supporters, reading comprehension isn’t your strong suit.

Honestly, he's not shooting a family holiday yatch cruising around the carribean out of the water for fun. Western nations have too much to answer to for that. He's acting tough against drugs suppliers. These guys on the boats are as ruthless as they come and would blow your head to bits for fun.

Any evidence that there were any drugs on board? Or anyone connected with drugs at all?

The Royal Navy has conducted many successful drug busts in the Caribbean. Always by intercepting boats and searching them. Never by just blowing boats out of the water on the off-chance.

DdraigGoch · 10/10/2025 22:25

Serpentstooth · 10/10/2025 14:36

All else failing, Obama deserves it for simply not being Donald Trump or resembling him in any way at all.

There were suggestions that 'not being George W. Bush' was the real reason last time.

I repeat, the US navy are not just willy nilly blowing yachts out of the waters in the Caribbean seas for a bit of target practice. They work from verified intelligence, proved by the lack of outcry from innocent family members screaming that my grandparents have just been torpedoed...

Wake up hun

You've got no evidence then.

You know that people have a right to a fair trial before being executed? These strikes are illegal under international law, and indeed under US law.

Serpentstooth · 10/10/2025 23:09

Has he yet decided that Norway's not bending the knee to his bullying and awarding him the Peace Prize is an Act of War against the USA? I'm using Bigly logic there and expecting Bigly Bullying to intensify. Poor Bigly, man of Peace, going unrecognised. It might be because of the bombs and militias, Bigly? D'ya think?

Live by the sword die by the sword, they don't deserve a fair trial.

So what if you're not living by the sword but someone else decides or says you are? That makes it fine for them to kill you?

The Nobel Peace Prize is there to acknowledge efforts to drive peace but also crucially for promoting democracy. Authoritarian leaders can't qualify. But then authoritarians are usually very good at patting themselves on the back for whatever they fancy, deserved or not.
