Copper coil and bleeding

Posting here for traffic, I posted on Women’s health but got no response! AIBU for worrying about the following:-

I had the copper IUD fitted exactly 4 weeks ago after have a nightmare time taking Desogestrel. I continued taking the pill for a week after the IUD had been fitted on the doctor’s advice, then stopped.
I experienced the expected bleeding after the IUD insertion, and 2 weeks after stopping Desogestrel I had what I assume was my withdrawal bleed. This lasted 10 days and was quite heavy and painful at times, but again I know that’s a side effect of the copper coil.
The heavier bleeding has stopped now but I’ve been spotting very lightly nearly every single day since have the coil fitted. But when I exercise the bleeding gets worse and I cramp slightly. Is this something that can happen in the adjustment period after having an IUD inserted? Once I’ve rested, the bleeding subsides and I go back to the light spotting. Or is it side effects coming off Desogestrel?
I’m up to date on my smears and after being examined before my coil was fitted was told everything was fine.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I just wondered if anyone else had experienced anything similar.
I can feel my IUD strings so don’t think the coil has moved or anything.

I had this too. Mine was fine for the first 4 weeks and then started bleeding daily. Had it scanned to check it was still in place and it was. In the end I had to have it removed and the bleeding stopped

Thanks for replying.

Ah okay, I spoke to the doctor today who said I haven’t given it nearly enough time to settle yet and to be patient and see if it’s settled in the new year.

None of my friends who have the copper coil have experienced what I am so I’m a bit put out! I guess coming off the pill too has mucked my system up as well.

Yeah I had similar circumstances. Had to come
off the pill in December and got the copper coil fitted at the end of Feb. Ended up getting it removed August. Hopefully yours settles down 🤞🏼.
