AIBU to feel that I have no energy after kids’ bedtime

SAHM to two young children and by the time I’ve put them to bed I’m so exhausted that I don’t have the energy to do anything other than bath/read/TV etc. Feel as though I should be making the most of the child-free time by getting out of the house to pursue a hobby etc. but just no energy left. I wondered how common it is for SAHMs to pre-school aged children to get out and do things in the evenings after kids are asleep?

You'll get there when you get there. I survived the pre school years with wine and a sense of humour. I worked full time but working was a break half the time. I'd say you're in the trenches right now, give yourself what you need - that sounds like rest and plenty of grace.

I've put yabu to expect to have energy to go out. I'm a sahm to a 2yo and 4yo and I'm knackered.

I’d say that’s totally normal. Mine are much older, 8 and 12 and I am only just there!

My son is 7 and I don't think I've ever felt rested since I was pregnant with him! He's very high energy and I feel exhausted just watching him run around. I don't know if I'll ever feel energised, but maybe I can just take naps during the day and pretend I'm a functioning adult
