Would you give up high paying job for peace of mind

I was chatting to a friend about finding balance between work and quality time with DC and I said to her that I want to give up my current job and find work at term time only preschool where kids are 3 or older. It might be less stressful as my current job is in high pressure project management. She just laughed. It will be a big drop in salary but more time with young DC. Have you done this?

Or may be find work at a supermarket near me and do two days a week.

Surely it entirely depends on your financial situation - you won't have much peace of mind if you can't pay the bills.

@NoisyTig please update us on whether or not you left your job to work in a preschool/supermarket? I'm in a similar situation and I'm going crazy trying to decide!

I work in a supermarket- I work most weekends, I get the odd Sunday off then two other days generally Monday and a late night Thursday. Love the job but the money, my broken back plus the fact I get out of bed early seven days a week (because of school runs), then at Christmas insane hours- 10/11 hour shifts and work right up to Christmas Eve coupled with little money and practically no pension means I would never recommend for anyone except school leavers before they find their calling.
