To ask if anyone else eats all day?

user112256479 · 06/10/2025 16:43

I've always been a grazer, most days the only real meal I eat is dinner. I'm not a big breakfast person, so am up by around 6:30 and mostly don't eat before noon. Not fasting, though, as I have a tea with a splash of milk first thing and then a coffee with a spoonful of creatine and some cream after I walk the dog.

It seems to work ok for me, but almost no one seems to eat that way.

@Belladog1 Sorry if you're struggling

You repeatedly have told us what a small appetite you have

but then also

you think It seems like a lot more food than most people on here eat in a day.

bit depressing to have reached 59 and still this focussed on food and being a bit weird about it all

HelenaWaiting · 08/10/2025 06:07

Nope. Three meals a day - breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have no patience with snacking between meals. It's like people can't go a couple of hours without food.

No, I haven't. I've said I fill up quickly and struggle to eat a lot at one sitting, which I think you seem to be having trouble understanding.

My question was, does anyone else eat all day. You haven't said whether you do or not, but I'm assuming not, based on your replies. Do you not think it's a bit depressing that you don't have anything productive to add but have replied on this thread more than anyone else? I guess because it gives you some kind of sense of superiority, which seems a bit weird about it all to me.

“No I haven’t” what?

Bloobelly · 08/10/2025 07:53

and was actually surprised by how relatively little food it added up to as I felt like I was munching away all day.

but also

it seems like a lot more food than most people on here eat in a day.

yes, there’s issues.

or you have a very short term memory

Bloobelly · 08/10/2025 07:54

In one post you think it seems much more than others

in the next you think it doesn’t seem very much food at all

Lifejigsaw · 08/10/2025 08:09

Bloobelly one statement is relative to others, one is about the OP. Also she’s allowed to change her mind as people comment!

I find it weird how everyone is so desperate to label people as having problems on threads like this. Leave her alone unless you want to engage properly with the question

Bloobelly · 08/10/2025 08:12

if you read the OP’s posts…. Lists all she has eaten and then expressed faux surprise at how much she seems to be eating compared to others

then she says as she was tallying it all up it struck her as not a lot

so which is it? Surprised how much more it is than others? Or surprised by how little it is?

Bloobelly · 08/10/2025 08:12

I've said I fill up quickly and struggle to eat a lot at one sitting

but if you’re constantly grazing, of course you “struggle to eat a lot in one sitting”

what about giving yourself a break from the fridge and cupboard for a few hours and then having dinner to see how you fare?

user112256479 · 08/10/2025 08:38

@Bloobelly

'No, I haven't' was in reference to you asserting that I keep saying what a small appetite I have. Yes, it did seem like a lot more than most people on here eat in a day. Then when I actually listed it out it didn't seem like as much as I thought, in fact, probably similar to a lot of people, but distributed differently.

And, because you either seem to have a set narrative, or struggle with reading comprehension, I've said, I think more than once, that even when I don't graze, i.e. on holiday or out of the house all day, or days like yesterday when I had back to back meetings from 11-4, so don't eat in the middle of the day, I fill up quickly, struggle to eat more, and then am hungry again in a few hours.

I'm not sure what your problem is, but since I don't understand your motivation for being on this thread, I think I'm done engaging with you.

@Lifejigsaw Thank you.

But you listed it out here

and clearly you say It seems like a lot more food than most people on here eat in a day.

but now Then when I actually listed it out it didn't seem like as much as I though

at 59 you will know op, and from one anorexic to another - what you’re doing is not only silly but also just encouraging people to say to you 😮 you don’t eat much op! Which is not in your interest and wasting posters time thinking you’re actually asking a genuine question

Bloobelly · 08/10/2025 09:18

user112256479 · 06/10/2025 17:46

I've just tallied up what I've consumed today since noon. Each line is for a different foray.

1 Hard boiled egg, 1 organic rye cracker with butter
left over steamed tender stem broccoli dipped in yuzu mayo
1/2 mug of left over vegetable barley soup (homemade)
1 apple dipped in kefir yoghurt
a few roasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds
4 Haribo gummies
1/2 leftover chicken thigh (with skin) and a few forkfuls of kimchi
1/4 of a mango
1 cup matcha
1 cup tea with milk, organic rye cracker with nut butter and thin smear of raspberry jam

I honestly have no idea what the calorie count of this would be. Going to try to add it up later. It seems like a lot more food than most people on here eat in a day.

@AmusedMember Just about to go for my run now!

DH is making dinner. It's going to be roasted sea bass, creamed spinach, salad and mushroom risotto (apparently). I'm a small portion dinner eater.

But you listed it out here
and clearly you say It seems like a lot more food than most people on here eat in a day.

On the back of this thread, I weighed myself this morning. I'm 5'4" and was 54 kilos, which is pretty much my set point, so I'd say a fairly healthy weight.

I also had some nut butter and barley, both of which had protein. And then fish and spinach and a cup of whole milk in hot chocolate later, so I'd think that's a decent amount of protein in the course of a day?

You'd need several bags of spinach to get any significant protein off it. But if you're feeling happy and energised then that's all that matters.

user112256479 · 08/10/2025 17:26

@DiscoBob True re the spinach! And, yes, I generally feel pretty good.

@Bloobelly Armchair diagnosing me on the internet doesn't make it true, I'm afraid. I'm sorry if you've struggled in the past and hope it's behind you. I can assure you, I don't have an eating disorder (I've posted my height and weight on this thread, which should make that pretty clear) and you seem determined to misunderstand my motives, so I'll leave you to it.

I like my food and prefer to eat 3 meals a day rather than graze.

Breakfast was some granola and yoghurt
Lunch was half a snap pot of baked beans, some roasted vegetables left over fom last night, some cheese and a slice of bread and butter.
Tea will be mince and dumplings and green beans

Hellohelga · 08/10/2025 17:51

I’m similar. I usually have breakfast - overnight oats - and lunch - salad - plus several snacks such as cheese and cracker, fruit, plain biscuit, lots of tea. Then a small evening meal.

Penguincushion · 08/10/2025 18:47

Isn’t it fairly obvious why you only
like small portions for dinner?

You’ve not given yourself the opportunity to actually get hungry

You can be perfectly normal healthy weight and still have an eating disorder

TheeNotoriousPIG · 08/10/2025 19:19

I do, in addition to normal mealtimes, and it seems to be a genetic thing with the women in my family! It is with great surprise that we are all of normal weights and in good health.

Fortunately, for me, I have a very physical job that means I have more trouble keeping weight on! Thus, I never have to worry about my waistline... just potential diabetes or some other health problem linked to diet!

Stormyday34 · 08/10/2025 21:23

I mean, each to their own if this is what suits you then crack on. Personally, it will drive me a bit mad all this nibbling here and picking at something there and never properly sitting down to eat anything (I know you said you have dinner, but you get my point).

I like to eat and then forget about it until the next meal. I would find it really impractical to have to constantly have snacks on me in case I need to nibble something.

But it doesn’t really matter what would suit me. If you’re happy like eating like this, then I don’t see that there’s anything much wrong with it.

Penguincushion · 09/10/2025 06:39

Is this what they call “food noise”?

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 09/10/2025 07:04

I can only eat if I'm hungry, otherwise I feel a bit sick. So do tend to have 2-3 meals a day.

I hate cooking though so meals I make myself are always really simple. Crackers with poached egg and avocado, microwaveable rice or pasta with sliced ham, egg on toast etc.

DH is the cook, so is more likely to cook a proper meal for us both to eat.

EllaPaella · 09/10/2025 07:18

I don’t eat breakfast and never have since I left school. In the beginning it was because I worked shifts and started work at 7.15am so couldn’t face getting up early enough to have breakfast and now it’s because I take medication that has to be taken an hour before food so again I can’t be bothered to get up an hour earlier to take it just so I can have breakfast before I leave the house.
i couldn’t snack like this during the day though - I think it I’d end up over eating by grazing constantly but also never feeling full.
Clearly it’s fine for you OP as you are a healthy weight for your height. We’re all different.

Yes, I realise that, but I don't have one.

I don't know. I think that's usually associated with overeating, but it might be a version of this.

Isn’t it fairly obvious why you only

As I've said several times on this thread, I get full very quickly regardless of whether I've been grazing or had nothing to eat all day.

Do you graze @Penguincushion? Or are you a three (or two or one) meal a day person? Or are you just here to diagnose me?
