To think most people who say “you’ve changed” just mean “you stopped tolerating my bullshit?”

Change isn’t the problem. Your boundaries are.

Yes. In my third year at uni I started hanging out with a more “give no fucks” crowd, my existing friends didn’t like it because I became more assertive and less of a people pleaser.

I feel like this entirely depends whether it is indeed someone who you have previously been accepting bullshit from 😂

otherwise people change all the time, for all sorts of reasons

Yes, I agree it could be attributed to that. Once I started putting boundaries in place when I was about 40 (at long, long last) with my toxic DM I was shouted and jeered at that I had changed. No, I finally saw the light and stood up for myself after a lifetime of her shit.

I mean, sometimes, sometimes not. It’s not one size fits all. Obviously.

Or sometimes it can mean “you’re happier and gained confidence and I don’t like it”.

Some people like to drag others down to their level of misery and don’t like to see others they previously considered comparable to themselves doing better.

I recently had this after losing some excess weight I gained during the 2020 lockdown situation, I’ve been told “you’ve changed” because I’m happier and dressing nicer.

I should bloody hope I’ve changed! I feel fantastic and I’m 3st lighter 😂

Context is everything. My Dsis married a very wealthy man and she seems to have abandoned her previous political beliefs in favour of his. She has become less tolerant of people from lower socioeconomic groups and at times her comments stray into racism. So, yes she has changed and not for the better
