I'm currently sat in a and e and I have nothing to think about.

My husband said do you think and a e doctors and nurses treat more then one person of the same name each day.

Not just doctors or nurses but teachers, sales people. How many times a day see or treat someone with the same name

Please forgive me I am very bored. My son has fallen asleep while waiting to hear of max fax.

Im not sure about the name
But i have seen a cctv video of someone who is literally me but wasnt
Amd also saw a picture in a local nightclub of a male who looks so much like me we could be twins !

Oh that reminds me - my friend found a picture of a woman in a magazine that looked so much like me that even my DM thought it was me. The only reason I knew it wasn't me was because the clothes she was wearing weren't mine!

DontGoJasonWaterfalls · 04/10/2025 01:47

When I was a teacher I had multiple pupils in different years with the exact same name - first, middle and last. Nightmare.

Hope all turns out well OP!

BeanQuisine · 04/10/2025 01:52

I used to try searching the internet for old school friends I've lost track of, but I soon gave up, because they nearly all had extremely common names.

It was needle-in-a-haystack stuff. Just my luck to grow up with a very samey-namey batch of kids.

The birthday thing . I live in the same house as my granddaughter and we share the same birthday . Our friend and neighbour from 3 doors away also shares our birthday as well as her next door neighbour.
I have four friends/relatives with birthdays on 20th December and 3 relatives with birthdays on 30th December.
when I was on the nursing register I was the only nurse in the whole of Britain with my name .

Before I married I was called Smith with a fairly common Christian name. My surname is incredibly rare. If I Google my name now I'm the only one that comes up.
I'd say it happens fairly often, but not to me.

AgeingDoc · 04/10/2025 02:17

I guess if you're in specialty that sees large numbers of outpatients you're more likely to see patients with the same name on the same day, particularly if you see a lot of people in the same age group, but it's actually quite rare to have two patients with exactly the same name on a ward at the same time. It does happen occasionally though and it's a bit stressful due to the potential risk of getting them mixed up. Lots of triple checking is required! We once had two patients with the same name and born in the same year on our ICU at the same time which is particularly unlikely I would think. They used the same shortened version of their names too. Fortunately they had very different things wrong with them!
Hope you get seen and sorted out soon OP.

Would you rather be 9 inches tall or 9ft tall? (One of the ridiculous questions I’ve been asked at work recently!)

9" don't even need to give it a second thought.

Ollybob · 04/10/2025 02:32

If you deal with lots of people in a day and hear their names you'll realise it's rather common, particularly in medical settings.
I've previously worked in such a place and there were so many multiples.
However the customers always presumed that they were the only ones, quite a few just stating their surname, gonna need more than that!

Figcherry · 04/10/2025 02:42

I have 3 brothers , two married women with the same birth date, month and day but different year and my 3rd dsil has same month but 2 days earlier.

Pollypolls · 04/10/2025 02:52

There is someone with the same name and DOB as me at my dentist. I only found out because I was deleted in error because they thought I was a duplicate

USaYwHatNow · 04/10/2025 03:12

Same same but different...as a student I was doing my A&E rotation (I did my training fresh out of school in the town where I lived with my parents) and I was looking at the triage board when I saw my Dad's full name and DOB pop up into majors/resus showing he'd had a stroke. I pointed it out to my mentor and she shoo'd me away to go and check on him. When I got there it wasn't my Dad, thank God, but a stranger who had the same name (e.g. Clive B. Smith) and a very similar date of birth which I'd obviously forgotten in my panic.

9 inches and I'd ride a cat to work.

😁

I'm sat in a hospital bay looking at two Marjories. Both in their 90s, both excellent vocal cords.

HelpMeGetThrough · 04/10/2025 04:16

Town I live in, someone has exactly the same name as me (I have an uncommon surname), same date of birth and is registered with the same GP.

it’s not a big town either.

iloveeverykindofcat · 04/10/2025 04:58

9ft, of course. You could make a load of money in professional basketball. No sporting ability needed, just stand by the net, let your teammates do all the sport and then they just hand the ball for you and you put it in the net. Boom rich.

KsbskGVDKDbs · 04/10/2025 04:58

10 years or so ago I taught a class that had 8 Muhammad variant names!

Nerdynerdynerd · 04/10/2025 05:08

I was in the doctors waiting room being nosey wondering what age the woman beside me was. We were all holding stickers with our name and address on them so I had a glance at hers and it was the exact same date of birth as me!!

I glanced again and realised she also had the same name... which in turn made me realise she'd been given my stickers lol

Then there was the awkward... "I think youve been given the wrong stickers... they caught my eye" conversation 🫠

Latenightreader · 04/10/2025 05:17

When I was a student there were three male students with the same first and last name in my year in college (slight variations of spelling). Two years below us there were another three with a different shared name and no spelling variations!

eurochick · 04/10/2025 05:34

My bil married a woman with the same first name as me. Luckily I didn’t change my name or both brothers would be married to women with the same first name last name combination.

Natsku · 04/10/2025 05:38

There's only 19 other women in my country with the same last name so the likelihood of one of them having the same first name is pretty slim. Having a rarer name certainly has its advantages, I walked into a newsagents to pick up my parcel that had been delivered there, didn't say a word and the shopkeeper said ah you've come to pick up your parcel, here it is!

On googling though, I have discovered that there is a horse with the same name as me in my country. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

WinterFaye2 · 04/10/2025 05:48

Past a&e nurse here. Yes there was plenty of same names where I worked, high Asian area so lots of reply at first/last names. Thankfully never encountered this alongside same DOB x

youalright · 04/10/2025 05:53

Once I was in a&e with someone with a very similar name, same surname and first name was very similar began with same first letter and they kept getting us mixed up. It was actually really dangerous

Rozendantz · 04/10/2025 06:00

I'm one of three people in my immediate family with the same first and last name - ist name classic but uncommon.

Also, there appears to be another one in my tiny town, as I recently had a call from the pharmacy after I'd collected some medication (which I hadn't opened) to ask me to return it, as it was actually for this other woman!!!! (I was asked if I'd like to file a formal complaint, and apparently they'd have to report themselves, regardless).
