To think Trump deserves credit for the peace plan

I’m sure there will be posters who disagree just because it’s Trump (and they disagree with everything he says and does) but let’s face it - this sounds like the most hopeful option for Gaza there has been in almost two years. I think he’s done well to get to where we’re at. Let’s just hope it all works out and translates into a better reality for the people of Gaza.

Hamas AGREES to hand over all hostages under Trump peace plan for Gaza

Hamas says it has agreed to release all Israeli hostages and return the remains of the deceased under Donald Trump's peace plan for Gaza, Reuters has reported.

It hasn’t worked yet though…

PaxAeterna · 03/10/2025 23:51

I don’t really. No. Or time will tell.

Trump doesn’t seem to have any real ethics or morals guiding him. Gaza is a hassle to him. People are getting upset about starving children and he wants these images to go away, it’s causing division and criticism for him. Then the Qatar attack is a bit of a disaster I think for the US. It could affect Trumps greatest love - money.

So that’s why we have a peace plan. It wasn’t done for the right reasons. And it was not done in conjunction with other key players and has bullied Hamas and maybe even Israel into agreeing to it. And I just wouldn’t have confidence that bullying people into peace works.

NuffSaidSam · 03/10/2025 23:53

If he was instrumental in drafting the agreement and it works and lasts then absolutely he deserves credit.

I think it's a bit early to call it a success yet. I'm also a bit doubtful about how much he was personally responsible for.

In a nutshell, Trump is a cunt who is only out for Trump.

HappyGolmore2 · 04/10/2025 00:01

Ahahahhahahaahhajahahhahahahaahhahsahhahahahahahahahahahaha.
he really wants awards he has no fucking business with though, doesn’t he? Desperate for a Nobel Award of some kind.

SpottyAardvark · 04/10/2025 00:12

Yes, of course he does.

For all Trump’s many faults and questionable motives (he desperately wants the Nobel peace prize) he is actually trying to stop wars, rather than start more of them as his predecessor Bush did. He wants peace because he would much prefer to do business deals with foreign countries, not fight with them. Bad people can do good things.

Notmymarmosets · 04/10/2025 00:15

Yes certainly if it happens.
No one else has managed it, or even come close, so if he can make it happen then good for him. I am not holding my breath though.

Exactly this. It's not a good look FOR HIM here in the US having so many people increasingly pro Palestine, including mainstream media and middle of the road moderates. It's no longer contained to those "radical left" Ivy League colleges he's been trying to shut down to shut them up. Plus, it's a DM link and they're always pro Trump.

Really? Have a look at the fleet assembling off Venezuela, and tell me that Trump isn't preparing to start a war.

ThatDreamyLemonBiscuit · 04/10/2025 00:36

No, I don't think so. The US's role has been abhorrent and they are as much to blame as Israel for the recent atrocities.

There are 15 members on the UN Securiry Council and 14 of them have repeatedly attempted to pass resolutions requiring an immediate and permanent ceasefire, and the immediate lifting of restrictions of humanitarian aide. The US has blocked the resolutions ever single time.

Through its support (and military muscle) the US has prevented the rest of the international community from any sort of meaningul intervention over the last two years.

It was also complicit in the sidelining of recognized humanitarian organizations in favour of the US-Israel "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" which has seemingly been grossly incompetent at best or, more likely, has purposefully committed war crimes.

Trump and the US are not neutral arbiters - they are complicit in war crimes and (likely) genocide.

I also fear for what might come next, as Trump is a heinous little man, not to be trusted.

vivainsomnia · 04/10/2025 09:01

Because it was him, personally, who came up with this amazing idea that nobody had possibly thought of in the past 2 years? Hahaha

reesewithoutaspoon · 10/10/2025 21:54

I'm not buying it. Hes a self serving psycho. There is an agenda behind this. Wouldn't be at all surprised if after hostages return they flatten Gaza and him and his cronies get the Israeli riviera they wanted. I would trust him about as far as I could throw him.
