Hi all,
Looking for some advice. I currently work in a school but have applied for some new jobs due to me whistleblowing and now essentially being bullied out.
I have got 3 interviews lined up.
My concern is I am worried about my sickness record if this comes up on references.
I have in the past 18 months had 2 miscarriages so had 2 weeks off for each of those and now an currently off with stress ( been off for 1 weeks).
Really worried they will see this and take away any offers I may get.
Anyone from HR got any advice. Should I be open and tell them at the point if they offer a job?

I think you should tell them, and offer it proactively rather than let them ask. This gives you the chance to explain you had miscarriages, and I would hope any good employer is understanding. If they don't think having the time off for these was reasonable, then they would offer an unhappy place to work, probably.

So sad to hear about your babies and losing this job, too. It must all be very stressful so I also do not think it's surprising you are off with stress. At least if you tell employers this proactively, it shows that you are aware of how employers view sickness but opens up the fact that these absences are not your usual pattern; they have reasons that are unavoidable.

I was a managing director and hiring partner three times, and I wouldn't have shied away from you for these absence reasons. I would have wanted to give you some support and a good place to work.

I’m so sorry for your losses. Miscarriages are regarded as pregnancy related absences and so should not be counted for sick leave.

I would not mention them. An employer will think you'll start and go off on mat leave.

Sorry for your losses x

I thought miscarriages are pregnancy related and dont count as sick leave. I wouldn't worry.
