His statement regarding his son commiting terrorism yesterday

"The news from Manchester regarding the terrorist attack targeting a Jewish synagogue has been a profound shock to us.
“The al-Shamie family in the UK and abroad strongly condemns this heinous act, which targeted peaceful, innocent civilians. We fully distance ourselves from this attack and express our deep shock and sorrow over what has happened. Our hearts and thoughts are with the victims and their families, and we pray for their strength and comfort.
“We kindly request that all media outlets respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time and refrain from using this tragic event in any context that does not reflect the truth. May God have mercy on the innocent victims, and we pray for the swift recovery of the injured.”

Seems quite contradictory doesn't it?

As I mentioned on another thread, in light of his real views which have now emerged I'm wondering if the purpose of the statement was to avoid scrutiny of the family, and especially of his other two sons

"Look how compassionate I am!!" can be a useful smokescreen - or at least it was until more became known

Edited to add I'm reminded of Amira Abase's father, clutching her teddy bear and boo-hooing about his innocent daughter decamping to ISIS - and then footage emerging of his having taken her to hate demos

That's what I think. Deflection and damage control

This lame inept ineffectual bunch of self serving twats otherwise knows as the Government will accept that family statement 100%..thats the worrying bit.

As soon as I read it I could see it for what it was so it wasn't a surprise to find out later on in the day his actual views on terrorism. But it did make me laugh, people reacting to the statement saying 'oh well at least we know he wasn't radicalised by his family". Oh hold on....

... people reacting to the statement saying 'oh well at least we know he wasn't radicalised by his family". Oh hold on ...

In fairness they may not have seen the rest of it then; I didn't know myself until the BBC reported it, and am frankly amazed that they did

As said though, and now this particular killer's dead, I'm more concerned about whether there could be more brewing with his family

HermioneWeasley · 03/10/2025 19:30

Why aren’t they just all being deported? If there are legal barriers then rush through emergency legislation. The government will look strong, it would be incredibly popular, I don’t understand why they aren’t rolling their sleeves up and getting on with it?

Would it be incredibly popular? I'm not sure. There's a huge proportion of the public that sympathizes with terriosts.

Also 'human rights' that's usually the classic reason given for not deporting people. Look at the Pakistani peadophiles in Rotherham. They didn't get deported did they? Human rights! The kids need their father etc etc

There's more coming. Maybe not from this family but you can be absolutely certain there's more coming.

I think more people would support it than not and yes, some laws would have to be changed to allow it. If I were in power I would be doing it

And you or certain that his choice of name was entirely innocent given his comments post October 7th. You seem to me to have a rather blinkered view of the situation.

How bizarre that you inferred my views from my pointing out what his name means.

The irony of you calling me blinkered is remarkable.

I think the word for it in Islam is "taqqiyah".

Noodledog · 03/10/2025 20:46

I'm finding the name thing interesting. I grew up and lived for decades in a part of the country with a large Muslim population and have never come across a Muslim male called Jihad. And yet today I discover it's actually really common and normal. Hmm.

And yes, I'm aware of the meaning of Jihad.

estellacandance · 03/10/2025 23:07

Zero tolerance. No one supporting terrorism should be allowed in the uk

jeremyclarksonsthirdnipple · 03/10/2025 19:02

What a son this father had ..yesterdays attack plus said son being on bail for a rape allegation. Our country does not need this type of shit inhabiting it period.

Agreed

The father should be sacked by the NHS and deported. The fact that the perpetrator was on bail for rape beggars belief.

I see the terrorist apologists on the other thread have gone quiet.

PeanutCrush · 04/10/2025 00:11

TakeMe2Insanity · 03/10/2025 18:26

So the general consensus on this thread is add oil to fire to increase the flames or extinguish the flames?

Please go and tell that to the posters on the pro- Palestine protest marchers thread. Despite repeated pleas from the prime minister, home Secretary, Jewish councils and the met police to show respect for yesterday's victims of terrorism and delay protesting, they've categorically said they don't give a shit and will carry on. How's that helping reduce tensions?

Meadowfinch · 04/10/2025 02:22

TheFrendo · 03/10/2025 18:12

He is a surgeon.

He should be sacked from the NHS/whoever? for his public support of Hamas's attack on Israel.

The father should be sacked from his role as a doctor because a fundamental of being a doctor of any kind is 'first, to do no harm', non-maleficence, a basic of Hippocratic ethics.

Instead he has knowingly radicalised his son to be a hate-filled murderous bigot, as his own social media posts openly demonstrate.

Regardless of which 'side' he is on, he is not fit to be employed by the NHS or anyone else.

xenogear · 04/10/2025 09:47

CopperWhite · 03/10/2025 17:21

It’s a war with two sides.

Do you believe that there is no one in Israel that praises the actions of the Israeli government? Their state sanctioned form of cruelty and killing is far worse and on a much bigger scale than anything that happened on October 7th.

And? Saying that "the other side" do it too is hardly justification, and extremely childish.

My family are Muslim. We came here because my father loves the west and UK in particular - the music, the fashion (it was the 70s and the UK was v cool), and of course the political and religious freedom. Religion did not dominate in our house and my brother and I are both atheists. I believe we have contributed to the UK and I believe the majority of people in the UK have no issue with us being here.

somewhere along the way people who hate the west and have no intention of integrating and actually wish us harm were allowed in with no reservations and we need to have a conversation about that before it tears our society apart.

THIS

Puzzledandpissedoff · 04/10/2025 10:54

I don't disagree, @Meadowfinch - though I thought he was working in France now? - but there's a slight problem in that nearly 50% of British muslims are said to sympathise with Hamas and if you removed every one of them that might result in other problems for the NHS

Yep. Muhammad Suwalha is a former Hamas chief, organised the Armistice Day hate march, has six children and lives in a London council house.

This needs to stop.

wrongthinker · 04/10/2025 14:40

I knew there would be people on here trying to defend and justify the anti-semitic terrorist murder of Jews peacefully praying in their synagogue.

Shame on all of you who can't see this for what it is.

Deport everyone who doesn't want to live by British values. Stop inviting them in and giving them homes and money. The terrorist living in a London council house and ordering attacks on Jews... why is he here? What the fuck are we doing?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/10/2025 14:50

Can’t say I’m altogether surprised. There was news footage here of groups in the UK, right after the event, openly celebrating the Hamas attack. And yes, they were Muslim groups.

BoredZelda · 04/10/2025 14:58

I can’t read the link, but the report I read said he shared a post that appeared to praise the attacks. When I read the text of the post, it doesn’t read that way to me.

Let’s focus on the guy who perpetrated the attack, rather than deciding anyone else is to blame with only hearsay to go on. Rest assured, the security services will be all over the backgrounds of anyone he associated with to ensure they pose no risk.
