60th gift ideas, HELP

Lostwithoutatracey · 02/10/2025 07:49

My lovely wife will be 60 soon and I'm stumped on what to get her as a gift or gifts. Travel, meals, chocolate are sorted. Don't want suggestions on jewellery but I want something physical
Budget doesn't matter, I can get 1 big thing or several smaller. Can you help me out please?

A painting?

EmpressaurusKitty · 02/10/2025 07:53

Knowing her age doesn’t help that much, what 60 year old women like will vary massively.

Tastes & hobbies?

SparklyCardigan · 02/10/2025 07:53

The Lego Love sign or flower bouquet.

SpringingOn · 02/10/2025 07:53

Can you ask her? Thinks I would like at the moment are some new long boots and a coat but I would like to choose them.

Alternatively, a plant for the garden. Or arbor/special bench if appropriate. A picture of somewhere or people important to both of you.

BitOutOfPractice · 02/10/2025 07:54

Yes what does she like - hobbies, tastes, interests? What sort of 60 year old woman is she?

Shoemadlady · 02/10/2025 07:55

ask her what she’d like but make sure you get a fabulous surprise too. What is her birthstone? What about some beautiful earrings or a special watch? Or take her somewhere to stay really lovely with a dinner somewhere she’s always wanted to go?

Oneearringlost · 02/10/2025 07:57

A heated blanket? I KNOW it sounds old and granny ish and she's probably nothing like that, but my DH gave me one last year, and its been luxurious and wonderful, especially as winter is coming up.
If you do, get one for £100 ish, as cheaper ones tend to stop working. I think mine is from Dreamland.

Or, a "handmade" voucher, for however much for her to spend on some lovely clothes/special boots?
We share all our finances, but i don't tend to feel justified in splashing out...this tells her to...do it!...

Oneearringlost · 02/10/2025 08:01

Or, my DH arranged a lovely meal in London ( where 2 out of three of our children live) and organised all three, their partners, my mother, sister and BIL. All accommodation sorted, it was so lovely. ( Not a complete surprise. As i hate surprises, but he'd arranged everything, then told me about a month before).

If she loves a coffee, an amazing bean to cup type machine?

Does she have need for the Dyson hairdryer range?

If she loves hiking, top of the range hiking boots.

What about a thermocook type thing? Or food processor? Any other kitchen gadget? Ooni pizza oven?

Gardening? Hori Hori, really great quality kneeling pad, niwaki tools.

Chanel/Charlotte tilbury/whatever else fancy makeup.

Luggage?

A couture dress?

The booker shortlist?

EscapadeVelocity · 02/10/2025 08:06

Well, I’m over 60 … What would I like (other than travel, jewellery, cases of my favourite wines):

An orchard
An Aga
A fully equipped home gym and personal trainer
Something from the new Dior collection
A Bentley (but a Mini would do)

muddyford · 02/10/2025 08:09

For my 60th DH bought me state of the art binoculars, which I requested. Sister bought me a beautiful modern barometer, parents a waterproof watch.

PrunellaModularis · 02/10/2025 08:12

Seriously, if my husband had bought me a heated blanket for my 60th ...

I would genuinely hate every single one of those presents! 😂

I would genuinely hate every single one of those presents! 😂

And I'd hate lego!

Just trying to give op some ideas.

We have no idea what she likes so I'm spitballing.

You got any other ideas?

Rocknrollstar · 02/10/2025 09:31

Jewellery - a ring or a bracelet.

EmpressaurusKitty · 02/10/2025 09:42

That’s the thing - this is pointless unless we know more about her.

EscapadeVelocity · 02/10/2025 09:44

Did you read the OP, @Rocknrollstar?

Seriously, if my husband had bought me a heated blanket for my 60th ...

I’m nearly 60. If my DP brought me a heated blanket it would be following him off the balcony onto the river. Do not buy a heated blanket as a special birthday present op.

Shetlands · 02/10/2025 10:05

Hire a Mustang convertible for her to drive with the top down along the Pacific coast around Big Sur.

Buy two business class plane tickets and a suite at the Waldorf Astoria for her and her best friend to have a city break in New York.

Book tickets for the opera at La Scala in Milan.

Ginisatonic · 02/10/2025 10:18

But surely the OP is just looking for suggestions.

I’d love a bean to cup coffee machine or a really nice set of luggage. But if my husband asked what I wanted I wouldn’t necessarily think of those items.

I’d hate a couture dress, but he would know that so he’d discount it.

PaddlingSwan · 02/10/2025 10:25

A Mont Blanc pen
Wine tasting and buying
10 sessions of reflexology
Silver photograph frames
A Mac Book Pro
Iconic recordings of her favourite music
A taster session of something she has always wanted to or something completely different from her normal habits/behaviour

gingercat02 · 02/10/2025 10:30

Physical things
A beautiful coat
A summer house
A horse (never going to happen)
A hot tub (no sex pond comments please)
A tree or structural plant
A painting

I would hate practical things, kitchen stuff, lego, a fucking heated blanket (we bought my 85yo FIL one) but thankfully we all like different things.

platinumanddiamonds · 02/10/2025 10:30

SparklyCardigan · 02/10/2025 07:53

The Lego Love sign or flower bouquet.

Great idea. I bought my granddaughter one for her birthday. Looks beautiful to display once built.

Lucylurker · 02/10/2025 10:38

It was mine recently. One my list of suggestions was.

A welsh blanket - got it and love it.
a Jaki London jumper - didn’t get but will be on Christmas list.
a handbag
a new purse.
theatre tickets to ballet shoes.
a kindle
family holiday more expensive than would be used too,

i generally prefer doing things with family. So things shows activités holiday,

peachescariad · 02/10/2025 10:47

My 60th list is:
Rose bush (one has my name)
Bay tree
Welsh art
Welsh slate
Family weekend away (done that!)
Spa day
Monica Vinader jewellery piece

Have you got a digital photo frame? - I love mine.
