Just got to hope he can hold it down

Sorry what’s the aibu bit?

Bobiverse · 01/10/2025 21:45

What is your AIBU?

And maybe try being supportive. I’d be pretty pissed off if I’d finally found a job and the supposed love of my life said, “Well, let’s just hope you can hold it down.”

BriefEncountersOfTheThirdKind · 01/10/2025 21:46

Is there a backstory here?

XenoBitch · 01/10/2025 21:47

Why could you have not congratulated him in private instead of posting on here and shaming him in the process?

TheatricalLife · 01/10/2025 21:47

Great news! Good luck to him.

Congratulations 🎊 👏 💐 🥳 🎊

You sound delighted? Or not👀😬

Tryingatleast · 01/10/2025 21:51

Why did people vote yanbu? I was thinking I’d hate someone to use that title about me, but your op isn’t great either! Congratulations to your dh, hard to find jobs at the mo

Wishitsnows · 01/10/2025 21:56

Congratulations

HotTiredDog · 01/10/2025 22:00

I voted that you are BU because you’ve immediately shown zero faith in his ability to actually do the job he’s been appointed to.
I hope you don’t make such comments in front of him - any confidence that he has gained by getting the job will immediately be shattered.
Sorry but I think it’s a cruel & unnecessary comment.

That thread is pretty sparse of information too.

Do you want advice or support to get away from this guy? What are you looking for?

I think we need a clearer picture. When he moved in, how did you split bills and rent/mortgage? When he lost his job, he just have had a lot of savings being a single man on six figures so did he keep contributing? Why did you agree to pay for the loft conversation (adding value to your home which he now has entitlement to 50% of)?

How much has he actually contributed overall?

Now that he has a job, will he be contributing?

If this guy isn’t paying at least half of everything then kick him out and end the marriage. Has he paid you back for half the loft conversion? I’d be seeing a solicitor and doing everything possible to keep my house as my asset.

That's good news, does he have the 6 figure salary he deserves
