Interesting that a recent channel 4 news segment was about a new wave of " auditors " i have been watching them for about five years, so not new. I know the uk was late to the party ,as first ammendment auditors across the pond have been around for about 10. Just wondered anyone on here watches...and who they watch ??
AIBU = Never heard of them
YANBU = watch them, I know who they are.

I have never watched an auditor film that. Given that comment, I fear you are more the " Psyco" not them. Do better.

Why? explain that properly because it doesn’t make sense. You’ve never seen these videos so @Greggsit is a psycho and needs to do better.

Its just total nonsense

Okay, it sounds like we're all at cross purposes in terms of our understanding of the word

@Shudahaddogs you've told us who you are watching but not been terribly clear about what you're actually watching. Are you watching how land and industrial estates change?

That is very different to anything I thought auditors were doing.

so maybe it's the case that the nuisance auditors took their name from a less alarming form of filming activity?

BTW, have you considered addressing any misunderstandings? It seems more productive than just chucking out "do better" at people who genuinely don't understand what you're referring to.

ive seen a few on TilTok and everyone of them have came across as odious little pricks.
The Manchester one mentioned previously especially. The amount of police time he must waste is incredible, always bleating about someone who has hurt his poor feelings

CameForAVacationStayedForTheRevolution · 30/09/2025 20:54

They like to test (audit) the police knowledge of the law. So for example will stand on a public pavement round the back of a police station filming the station and maybe the private carpark. Some police officer comes shooting out and demands to know what they’re doing and what their name is. Auditor will refuse to answer all questions as they know that legally unless the police officer has reasonable grounds to suspect a crime has been committed they have no right to insist on answers.

quite a few police balls up here. They tell the auditor they’re not allowed to film the private carpark even if they’re stood on the pavement, they threaten to take the camera or drone, they threaten to arrest the person on public order offences or terrorist charges. At this point the auditor believes they’ve failed the audit.

some have even been arrested and a police officer friend of mine always groans and says there was no grounds for arrest and if they chase for compensation they’d get it.

purpleme12 · 30/09/2025 20:55

What are audit watchers on YouTube?

He got arrested a few weeks ago for screaming at two girls who were snogging in the street. He deserved to be arrested. I don’t even think he’s necessarily homophobic, he’ll just do anything to try and get a reaction.

To give one example, some of them are filming what's going on outside asylum seeker hotels and some of them are actually walking into the hotels and harassing the staff and if they encounter any residents, those too

Regardless of what you think about asylum hotels, I don't think that's acceptable.

I don't watch hotel audits. I don't know. But what I do know is, people wouldn't be filming these hotels, if there was no content. Its not a public service, people make content from these hotels to make money. If there is nothing to see. No content. No money. The fact you know about them they are making money. Who do we stop..the hotels ? Or the money makers ?

I thought this was going to be about internal audit and risk & control frameworks (disappointed now….)

I think it's important to document how things are changing. Landscapes and people's attitude to someone holding a camera. First photo was taken about 100 years ago, and I like seeing how they dressed the houses, streets. When I was young anyone took a photo I was desperate to be in it !! I find it odd in a world of 4k everybody wants privacy, in a world ever move you make is documented. Auditors are filming. Am interested.

That’s an interesting take I suppose. You’re sounding more like a journalist now tho.

you say we should expect privacy in a 4k world. Of course we should. We weren’t built to have constant contact, see ourselves from all angles and compare ourselves to millions of others. We were built to catch a fleeting glance in the lake that we met at most 100 people at. I hate the idea of being caught on film and posted on social media whether I’m having a moment of road rage or falling over on the ice/drinking too much. I see people making videos at my gym and if I thought I was in one id ask to be removed.

these people aren’t “auditors”. They’re cunts. Causing problems and acting the maggot to ensure everyone else follows the law or societies moral code while they refuse to themselves.

The person that filmed me was not acting in the public interest. He was attempting to trespass into a place into which he had no right of access. Even if he had legitimate concerns about the prison system, taking shit video of prison officers and admin staff going to lunch doesn't seem to be doing much to address those concerns.

AngelofIslington · 30/09/2025 21:05

@CameForAVacationStayedForTheRevolution the fact he thinks he’s that important he needs a bodyguard shows what a little coward he is. Embarrassment of man

You said that people should film ambulance workers. As previously said, I have seen people film ambulance workers desperately trying to save people's lives. People in a very vulnerable state. People whose treatment was impeded because of these simpletons getting in the way.

I think it's sick and ghoulish. You are defending it, but for some reason I'm the psycho.

Your 100 per cent correct !! Better than I could of put it. We are expecting our behaviour not to be in 4k. It is. However. People capturing life in 2025 arnt " Cunts " and are not causing problems, only because we don't like what we see, doesn't make anyone holding a camera a " maggot"

Absolutely this. I know who they were... Have no intention of watching them.

Same I know what they are but don't watch them

TeddySchnauzer · 30/09/2025 21:18

Never heard of an auditor in any context other than in regards to Tax???

PollyBell · 30/09/2025 21:21

So from what I gather whatever this 'audit watcher' thing is are busy bodies who assume the majority of what emergency services etc. Is in done in public? Do they film all the paperwork completing or is that not exciting enough for them?

If people think they are doing a community service isn't theire volunteer work they can do out there to actually make a difference

Never watched an audit drone footage of this happening. I did watch " The Met."" 24 hours in police custody " traffic cops " murder 24/7 if i want full footage of people in there darkest hour, I only need to tune into mainstream media. Am I only allowed to see police / ambulance when they govern what i watch ?

Let me check I’ve got this right

  • it is correct that videos are out there of these people impeding the work that emergency services are doing to save people’s lives
  • we should expect every minute of our lives to be recorded and broadcast
  • the people recording people who don’t want to be recorded and the people who haven’t been able to keep people safe from harm and / or injury don’t matter
  • the people who get in the way of them and intrude on their lives are not maggots or cunts

Do they film all the paperwork completing ? My original post was who was watching auditors and who they watching. Some times people should just not.

Yes you should only be allowed when the people in the film have agreed to it and certain standards of behaviour from the filming team have been agreed to in my opinion. Not some random idiot with more time than empathy

Greggsit · 30/09/2025 21:28

@Shudahaddogs Have you forgotten what usernames you're using tonight? Because you've quoted one of my posts twice, once agreeing with me 100%, and once disagreeing with me!

And your poll makes no sense because there's no option for "I know who they are but I have better things to do than watch twerpy middle aged white men try and make themselves the victim".

Edited

I was looking for that option as well. They seem to make a beeline for places with more women than men too so also they need to pick on people their own size.
