To be in tears about what Billy Crystal said?

We were on a train and he was really rude about what I’d cooked. It was some sort of cheese casserole. It’s the first time I made it but I thought it tasted ok.

He also took the last seat at the table so I had to sit on my own. He ended up admitting the casserole tasted better than he’d initially thought but it was too late. I was so crushed that I woke up in tears.

I’m no stranger to night time disappointment; Many’s the time I’ve had to have words with DH first thing in the morning because he’s cheated.

But I thought better of Billy.

Ooh thanks everyone, I got a few chuckles out of this thread.

Nothing more interesting going on in my dreams than a garden border dispute. Concerning a garden and a neighbour I don't have, and in fact a Hyacinth-Bucket-ish version of myself that I hope never comes true.

Maybe my subconscious is telling me that I could be worse.

DBD1975 · 30/09/2025 12:22

Cheese casserole a casserole made of cheese!🤣

Costcogroupie · 30/09/2025 12:26

Underblankie · 30/09/2025 08:22

Dh is a complete bastard to me in my dreams, and takes no responsibility for it even though it’s obvious that my subconscious has to balance out how lovely he is to me during the day, so it is his fault.

I bet your cheese casserole was lovely Confused Shame on Billy

You don’t have sleep apnea op? Vivid dreams can be a sign

Is a cheese casserole the same as a fondue?

My (very nice in real life) MIL was staying with us, shortly after I had my youngest child - so I had a newborn and a toddler.

MIL told my husband she didn't think I was pulling my weight around the house - wasn't doing nearly enough ironing and was expecting him to do too much. In my dream, my husband agreed with her, and said he could totally see where she was coming from.

I could barely speak to him for the rest of the next day, and ten years later, I still haven't completely forgiven MIL for that thing she didn't actually say.

😂 Poor MIL!

I also want to give a 😂and a 👏to the poster who hit Donald Trump with a garden spade.

Is cheese casserole like corn pudding? Did anyone start dancing whilst treading a fine line between looking cheerful and deranged?

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 30/09/2025 12:45

These are so funny!
I have very vivid dreams.

Once I developed a crush (in my dream) on Gordon Brown and in that dream we were snogging - it was super hot (in the dream).
It was quite a long dream and there were many phases to it but basically he was a very attractive ladies man (I am NOT attracted to these types at all!!), suave and sophisticated.
And hot?!

I never really worked out why. He was still just Gordon Brown, with his voice, and wearing a suit, and everything.

PhilOPastry62 · 30/09/2025 12:45

YABVVU. Cheese casserole is the food of the very worst of nightmares. As it happens I was in the next compartment and the smell of the casserole was making me barf. I woke up and had to run for the loo.

I had a similar one about Nick Clegg - a few years ago, when there was a coaltion government and we were living in different times. In my dream, he was surprisingly forceful and authorative, in a good way. Couldn't watch him in the HoC after that without a bit of a tingle.

squidsin · 30/09/2025 12:58

I just assumed a cheese casserole was an American thing. I think their version of 'casserole' is different to ours, isn't it?

I once had a similar dream about Ian Hislop. He was a very tender, caring lover.

Jason Donovan isn't as nice as he makes out.

Last week I told my boss to shove her job and was told I had to have a meeting and could bring a representative in with me. Jason refused as he was too busy going out for lunch with my sister!

Also just googled cheese casserole and found this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funeral_potatoes

hash browns, chicken soup, cheese, onions and cornflakes! Mmm. Maybe Billy could have been a bit more tactful, but really…

🤢🤢🤢

I met him in the early 90s when they were still in opposition and let me tell you he had something about him. And a magnificent head of hair.

I just very slightly mistyped “something” then and my phone autocorrected it to honeybun which is a word I’ve never used before so perhaps my phone agrees with me about Gordon Brown.

BonfireNight1993 · 30/09/2025 14:56

LTB (leave the Billy)

LeftieRightsHoarder · 30/09/2025 15:06

Very early in our relationship, my boyfriend turned in his sleep and punched me in the chest. He was trying to escape from attackers in a nightmare. I was most offended. He was gutted when I told him in the morning, and I was still feeling resentful. He apologised over and over again, really upset.

After 20+ years of happy marriage, I remind him of this occasionally if he criticises me about anything! It works every time.

I will shamelessly seize this opportunity to ask if anyone can interpret a dream I had years ago.

A Wise Woman told me the three secret rules of life:

  1. "Never consort with those in grievous distress." (I wasn’t in distress and didn’t know anyone who was.)
  2. "Never travel in a horse-drawn cart." (I never have, wasn’t planning to and don’t know anyone who's got one.)
  3. "Never go to Budleigh Salterton." (I've never been there, wasn’t planning to go there, and don’t know anyone from there.)

Any thoughts, anyone?

Edited

I would stop reading Thomas Hardy novels for a start.

Good idea! They’re all so damn depressing anyway.

I hit Donald Trump round the head with a garden spade last night because he was stalking me - I am a fat 67 year old gran, so not his ususal type!

You acted for all of us. 🏆

Well at least my crush was only a dream!!

I'm sure he may be very nice, but he's not exactly my normal hot crush material 😂

I went to Budleigh Salterton this summer after seeing a beautiful photo of it, and walked along the beach. It wasn't as nice as I expected. Also, on 28th July, part of the cliff collapsed onto the beach and some sunbathers were lucky not to be buried.

So I think the Wise Woman is indeed wise and you should probably heed her advice.

I sometimes have really weird dreams too - usually if I’ve woken up and gone back to sleep. Am glad it’s not just me!

I sometimes think if my weird dreams were ever analysed I’d be locked up!

I had one were I was in a relationship with Harry Styles. I’m 61. He was lovely though. I still feel quite affectionate towards him. And it was a relationship not a sex dream. I woke up feeling all happy.

That’s when I usually have them too! I get up for a pee at 5 or 6 go back to sleep & dream all sorts of weird stuff! This morning I dreamt I was a a student midwife & all the patients were in a ward labouring & I was running from one to another while the actual midwives sat in the staff room drinking tea! Then my niece turned up as a patient! There was no privacy they were all just on beds, no curtains or anything! I was drenched in sweat when I woke up!

I had a dream around the time Oasis were planning their reunion concert.

I was having a dinner party and Noel and his mum were sitting chatting away at the table with me. There was a hot tub in the corner of the dining room and a fully-clothed (no funny business) Liam was sitting in it amongst the crockery, happily washing the dishes with a little mop and admiring my Denby service.

It was a really lovely, relaxed occasion, I remember.
