Exercise after c section

How long do I need to wait after a section to exercise? And any tips to get rid of the overhang /flappy bit of belly?

I waited for 6 weeks to be cleared by GP first. And then slowly started exercising. But I mostly run and don't do anything else really. I cannot advise regarding overhang, I was lucky to bounce back quickly to a completely flat stomach. But, breastfeeding helps A LOT.

Sadly breastfeeding didn't work for me, devastated about that

I have never got rid of the overhang.

I urge you to see a specialist women’s health physio. I paid £80 for a session which seems to be the going rate and they give you the best advice.

I went for a walk most days from a week or so PP. was cleared for exercise at my 6 week check. I did a mix of walking with the buggy and Pilates. No overhang here at all but I think that’s luck rather than anything else. I stayed active right up until my ELCS which may have helped though.

I worked up to full fitness after both of mine. I went on short walks asap and then lengthened them until I was doing longer walks, then faster walks and was back running at 9 weeks postpartum. I left lifting weights until 12 weeks however.

My dc are 18 and 14 now and I workout daily, eat healthily and am v fit. The overhang? Never going to go sadly. It's loose skin above tight stitching and aside from surgery, there's no solution for it.

Do you know any good stomach exercises
