Imposter syndrome in my new job

justinthismorning · 26/09/2025 12:54

I am due to start a new job on Monday. I am qualified and I was chosen because they were confident I could do the job.
Why do I feel like I can’t, nerves? I don’t know.

I keep wondering why on earth they thought I’d be the right choice and am I going to be good enough?

I’m not sure I even want to go. What if I get there and I don’t fit in? Don’t like it? They don’t like me?

You're qualified, they like you, you have the skills to present yourself well. You've got this 💪

Don't over think it!

If it turns out not to be a good fit, you move on!

Don't let it spoil your weekend. Keep the faith.

Totally normal feeling, this time next week you'll have got the first week out of the way and I bet you'll be feeling much better. It's scary starting a new job and you might not find your feet for a bit but it will come. If it doesn't, not the end of the world.

Try and enjoy your weekend, nothing is ever as bad as you imagine it usually. Good luck and come back next Friday and let us know how you got on!
