Put a wash on this morning just after 9am as was picking a friend up at 12.30 so plenty of time.

At 11.10 went to double check how long left on the machine and it said 46 minutes. Perfect I thought, plenty of time to hang it out before I need to leave. Hadn’t heard the bastard beep by 12 noon so went to look thinking it’ll have a minute or two left, but nooooo the fucker was then saying 24 minutes left!!!!

Messaged friend to say I may be a few minutes late but no big deal. Just been to check again now and it’s now saying another 10 flipping minutes!!!

it’s such a gaslighting lying piece of shit!!

obviously very lighthearted and I’m not in UK before people come at me for not being able to tell the time.

now wasting precious pool time waiting for the bugger to decided to finish. From now on the bastard will be known at Trevor (no offence to anyone married to a lovely Trevor out there!)

Omg I’m with you! Mine does this too! Fucking lying bastard

Reachedtheend · 26/09/2025 09:36

It sounds as though the timer is faulty OP.
Perhaps you should get someone to look at it.

And don’t get me started on the needy microwave beeping and beeping. IKNOW YOU’RE DONE, FUCK OFF

It changes the time based on the weight. But just do it at the start and don’t change!

LeaderBee · 26/09/2025 09:40

It can't be as much of a liar as the electronic bus timetable though?

I swear, every minute on them is technically two.

"2 minutes away" you wait another 4
"Due" nothing in sight.

I didn't realise that. Thanks.

Mine isn't an overly fancy model, but the time can take longer if it's struggling to balance during the spin. Having worked with centrifuges and seen pictures of unbalanced ones, I'm happy it doesn't spin unbalanced.

When it says there’s 1 minute left so I stand there for an eternity waiting to get it out! Washing machines are the biggest gaslighters out there!!!!

MagnoliaTreeBlossom · 26/09/2025 10:05

Programme alerts for power on, power off and completion are everywhere now. My microwave, dishwasher, air fryer, kettle and washing machine are attention seeking with their ta-da perfomance finale. Even the fridge bleeps if the door is open too long!

My new washing machine doesn't just sound a few beeps when it finishes a cycle... it plays a merry tune for 10 seconds! I have just left this feature on when I could mute it. Samsung singalong! 🤣

Clean your filters and drains. That last minute is based on how long it should take to empty. If your drain is clogged, that will be slower so the timer won't change. You might have a sock stuck somewhere.

They are not minutes, they are time units. No two time units are the same.
