To report this company to the Competitions and Markets Authority?

I bought a piece of furniture five months ago now. It arrived an it had an incorrect piece.

It took four and a half months for the replacement part to be shipped to me. During this time, the only other solution the company had was to ship an entirely new unit to me, for me to pick out the replacement part, and then arrange shipment back to them of the remaining parts (this does not comply with the CRA 2015, as this would be at a cost to me, and an inconvenience to me (s.23)).

Today the part finally arrived. Four and a half months later.

They've sent the same incorrect part again.

I feel like screaming. It's now going to take another four and a half months for me to have a chance of having the part. The company don't seem interested in making sure the part is received and I've seen a few reviews saying that this company does this type of thing all the time.

AIBU to just report them, as this has gone beyond fixing?

I'm not sure you will get anywhere reporting them. Why can't you get your money back and buy something similar elsewhere?

It’s the threat more than anything. Although they are breaking consumer rights law and so can be held accountable by the authority.

they’re refusing a refund. The only way I can get one is to dismantle it, arrange shipping back to them and then wait for the refund. The cost of that would probably be equal to the value of the item. All I want is the correct part.

I don’t think it’s the CMA you need, I think it might be trading standards

I might do them both. I just feel like screaming. For four and a half months they’ve been saying they don’t have the part in stock, then when they finally do, they send the wrong one!

Did you pay by credit card? I would start a charge back if you did, if its not fit for purpose.

Sadly no, but I’ve learnt my lesson! I’m hoping that my strongly worded email setting out all the parts of the CRA they’ve broken will help things along

Um, the CMA is not going to be interested in this. They’re busy conducting massive investigations into the likes of Google and Facebook.
