To wonder if this is just low iron..?

Last year I had a mystery post viral illness, I basically had a virus and then afterwards just couldn’t eat and lost loads of weight.
im finally on the mend, appetite is back and I’ve gained the lost weight (too much!)
But recently I’ve been feeling EXHAUSTED no matter how much sleep I get, more than just the normal running after the kids tiredness. I’ve been getting a lot of headaches and dizzy spells too, and craving sweet things but not particularly hungry for meals.
I had a blood test and the only thing off is ferritin which is low at 20.

Could low iron cause all those symptom's??

Yep, I have struggled with low iron levels on and off for years, and that's exactly how it makes me feel,

@WaxworkWarboys really? What did you do to get it up? I’ve been given ferrous sulphate but it’s really messing with my stomach!

I ended up getting iron infusions (privately). If that's something you could afford, it might be worth looking into.

If not, you could try liquid iron supplements, as they tend to be gentler on the stomach, although they're not as strong as the tablets, so it might take a while longer.

Obviously, trying to eat as many iron-rich foods as possible is important too.

I use gentle iron from Holland and Barrett and sometimes the infusions

Sometimes people find ferrous fumarate easier to take than sulphate.

Absolutely, I have chronic low iron finally picked up after I ended up in hospital requiring a iron AND blood transfusion. I don't think I've ever felt so ill in my life and had all the symptoms you describe.

Get bloods to check thyroid - could be Hashimotos.
