My sister never says thank you

Just that really.

Cards, presents anything. It’s starting to really get to me.

We live near 5 hours away from each other and send cards and a little something for birthdays. Messaged her today to say happy birthday and to check she’d received it. ‘Oh yeah thanks.’

Even at Christmas she just takes it and puts it on the side to open later and not a word of thanks. Can’t remember seeing her open anything last year.

I’ve sent little gifts for my niece (18mths) to her and never even get a message back. I’m not expecting full blown videos of her opening them but just a WhatsApp to say thank you maybe? 🤷‍♀️

That’s so rude of her

Which is weird as she’s not a rude person. 🤷‍♀️ I think I’m going to say something next time!

I don’t think you’re being unreasonable at all. A quick thank you isn’t much to ask, especially when you’ve put thought and effort into gifts. Some people are just really bad at showing appreciation, but that doesn’t make it hurt less when you’re on the giving end. You’re allowed to feel fed up with it – maybe scale back what you send if it’s starting to feel one-sided.

Sounds like she has no poker face and you don’t buy the right gifts so feels she has no need to thank you for something she’ll have to take to the charity shop. Stop buying for her.
