Has this happened to anyone else or am I just overthinking it- we suddenly get a section 21 notice via email that our landlord is selling the property…this is after we finally plucked up the courage to complain to the council about the repair issues that hadn’t been dealt with and an EHO came round to inspect and later contacted the landlord/agents…do you think they’re genuinely selling or just a ploy to not have to deal with repairs😭

It's probably both.

A combination? Loads of landlords are selling so being forced to do the repairs may have been the push they needed to decide the time is now.

Probably both. It’s the risk you take when you complain in rented accommodation (obviously it shouldn’t be).

They have probably been thinking about selling and this has pushed them into action. Perhaps they can't afford the repairs? I am not saying this is reasonable BTW, obviously being a landlord should involve having sufficient funds to maintain your property but the reality is, with interest rates going up and the tax treatment of rental income becoming less and less attractive, lots of LLs are leaving the sector.
