To try to re-start the PTA / Friends at my DCs school??

The other PTA thread is making me question the sanity of my previous idea! Last DD leaves end of this academic year and there’s been no ‘Friends of’ since it collapsed during lockdown.

The teachers are amazing and run ragged already and they now have to do all the fetes / Christmas stuff / discos / sports days on top of everything else.

I used to go and volunteer for a couple of hours a week reading with younger kids but wondering if this year I could use that time to try to regenerate the PTA???

I’m an event planner so good at logistics / comms / planning etc but am I taking on an impossible task??

I wouldn't, not if my child was no longer there. If I had any spare time, I'd use it for something that benefited them, so at their school.

I think a PTA can work if it’s not over ambitious and pushing people into making cakes every month. If you focus on taking on some of the events that already exist rather than creating new ones it will relieve some of the burden on the staff.
