he rang tonight as usual and asked her what she had done today
"well its my actual birthday today" she said.

"oh yes! happy birthday" he said.

How could he forget? He gave her presents last week when he had DCs over half term but today IS her birthday & he had forgotten....she didnt seem to notice but I feel so cross/upset that he forgot

I think I would be enraged. My DD was 4 last month and it was a huge deal for her. He should have been ringing up at breakfast time to wish her happy birthday etc.

mistressmiggins · 02/06/2008 22:14

he rang but only cos its Monday & thats one of the days he rings.

ironically he rang on his own bday & we were out, & he left voicemail saying "just ringing to wish myself happy bday"

he remembers his own bday but not his DD

YANBU!!! He should have had it marked on his calendar in big bold letters!!! Your poor DD!

chocolatespiders · 02/06/2008 22:14

that is awful he should have phoned this morning to sing happy birthday to her.....

hope she had a wondeful day anyway

VeniVidiVickiQV · 02/06/2008 22:15

Well, if she didnt notice, then that's okay - for her - thankfully. I'm sure she'll have had a great day with you and not really noticed tbh. More sad for him, i'd say.

mistressmiggins · 02/06/2008 22:16

she did have a lovely day - I took her to get her hair cut and we painted Tinkerbell (present from one of her friends) My parents & SIL came round for tea and so we've had a lovely day.
I was just so upset that he had clearly forgotten cos to ask "what did you do today" is his standard question when he rings & she had to tell him it was her bday today.

He is EX for a reason....keep this in front of you, it will make life easier.

mistressmiggins · 02/06/2008 22:18

I know LGJ and have just phoned my dad in tears to have the same msg from him as you have just said....am annoyed that things like this upset me as I clearly still expect great things from him & am constantly let down
