To want to do something about the look of my nether regions?

Glitterboobz · 23/09/2025 06:18

Ok so the title is a bit flippant but this is actually causing me some distress to the point that my sex life is non existent as I'm so self conscious about how my labia etc look.

Here are my issues:

Large labia minora that hang quite far down and to be honest, look like a couple of shrivelled prunes.

The general look - I had an episiotomy with my first baby and a third degree tear with my second.

A deflated pile hanging out of my bum that is like a flappy burst balloon.

I'm only 44, way too young to live a sexless life.

Can anyone give me any advice on treatments etc to improve the look of the ol' downstairs?

I can't, but I'm sure if you ask ChatGPT it will.

Apologies if you're not, but it sounds like you're a perv looking for women to talk about their genitals...

TheCurious0range · 23/09/2025 06:21

Go and speak to your doctor if it's affecting your physical or mental health

Let’s not shame the OP hey ?!
Maybe she needs a bit of reassurance not judgement .

Can you look into an operation to “tidy” up down there op ?

But we are all different and there ARE men who like this . I am very similar myself to you and I think a man should be grateful if they are even getting to that point 🤣

Sunshineandrainbow · 23/09/2025 06:33

If it's affecting you you need to have something done to help.
I don't know what kind of surgeon you would Google but I am sure someone will.

Grow up. She's asking for reassurance/advice, she didn't ask us to all get our foo-foos out and discuss them. If women cant talk about our anatomy without people going "gross! Perv!" that sounds a bit like censorship.

@coffeetasteslikeshit Thanks for that wonderful comment. Women support women eh?!

Thanks everyone else for your supportive comments. I am thinking of chatting to a doctor and at least sorting the pile if nothing else?!

I feel the same way but I do realise that men are usually not looking in great detail. In the same way that women aren’t critiquing penises when they are having sex unless they are super weird (the penis or the woman!).
The pile and the labia are both totally fixable OP. Get thee to your GP.

Muffsies · 23/09/2025 06:40

I'd certainly discuss the pile situation with your GP, that could easily be removed with a surgical procedure. You might get it done on the NHS if it's likely to get infected. Even if you couldn't get it done on the NHS, they should be able to recommend a reputable private clinic that does this. From there you can ask the private clinic for advice on your labia.

Does the pile cause you problems getting chaffed or rubbed sore?

Sorry if you are a genuine poster and I've upset you. However, Mumsnet does attract pervy men who post stuff like this in order to have women post about their genitals in solidarity with the op, which they then get off on.

Like I say, I don't want to upset you if you're genuine and I advise you to speak to your GP about it, or ChatGPT if you aren't yet ready for that conversation in real life!

GAJLY · 23/09/2025 07:10

Forget about what they look like, there's nothing you can do about it. At least it's still functional. The piles, I would go and talk to a doctor about because they can operate.

Gettingbysomehow · 23/09/2025 07:20

Im off to Nords clinic in Lithuania to have loose skin removed after weight loss. They are an excellent clinic and the prices are really good too. My sister lives over there and its the Lithanians choice of clinic for cosmetic surgery. I've researched it thoroughly.
I was talking to the surgeon yesterday and they also do the kind of surgery you want.
Why not enquire. Life is too short to be unhappy.

Pepperedpickles · 23/09/2025 07:24

Piles can be treated on the NHS so do go and see your doctor. The rest of it is more cosmetic by the sounds of it so it may be something you need to pay privately for if it’s really bothering you. Something I will say is that most of us in our 40s have the scars of childbirth and weight gain / loss / body changes. I think you’d be hard pushed to find a woman who doesn’t have a vagina / vulva and bum that looks very different to how it did in their 20s. If it isn’t making sex physically uncomfortable perhaps just try and change your mindset a little. I mean that kindly.

winemonster · 23/09/2025 07:25

Sorry you are feeling this way. The procedure you are looking for is a labiaplasty. I had a labiaplasty done years ago and the results are amazing. My confidence down below is now normal and I’m very pleased. I had it done privately at a uk hospital, if you are near Surrey I can recommend them.

Glitterboobz · 23/09/2025 08:18

Thanks everyone. Your suggestions are definitely giving me the push I need to look into doing something about it.

We cant censor women and prevent them from discussing normal things like anatomy because there are weirdos out there. We have to be careful bc that's the sort of excuse that the Taliban use, "don't do this, don't do that, or men might get aroused!"

OP was quite clearly not a man trying to get women to talk about sex/vaginas, she had a serious medical question and needed advice. Notice how no one made this thread 'pervy' except you.

If a perv did pop up, then that's what the mods are for; that person would get their post removed (and possibly be banned), quite rightly as they are the issue. But we can't prevent/shame women from having serious questions about anatomy bc we're scared of a few weirdos.

Just try to use a bit more critical thinking.

👍 good luck with your GP!

I'm sure there are other women reading this who will also have been helped to go see their GP with their pesky piles!
