Why is my husbands phone showing wrong location

Justacigarette · 22/09/2025 20:06

DH and I share location on our phones.

Went to check his location to see if he was on way home from gym. But it was in a very random place that he would never be. I was a bit worried that someone had stolen his phone.
suddenly the phone showed that he was at the gym (phone had been in a locker)

the locations were a couple of miles away.

any idea what could have caused this?

I don’t time it for pasta. 😂 But the traffic where we live is awful and I want to know if we should wait 5 mins so we can eat together as a family or my hangry kids should get started without him. We moved so my child with additional needs could closer to a new school, and it meant changing his commute from cycling or an easy 10 min drive to over a hour through terrible traffic. I feel bad for him missing out on more family life during the week and we try to eat as a family where we can.

Camera21 · 23/09/2025 09:13

Tracking lunacy again. Just stop it. And stop with the ‘ it helps me put the pasta on in time’ excuses

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 23/09/2025 09:15

That can happen

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 23/09/2025 09:15

Even at home - centre of a village - my phone can sometimes think it’s in a town 7 miles away. Location accuracy isn’t always brilliant.

Mantari · 23/09/2025 09:16

My phone often shows my location as being a couple of miles or so away from home when I am sitting on my sofa.

Mantari · 23/09/2025 09:19

Katemax82 · 22/09/2025 21:52

My location history had me 5 miles away at 3am once (when is been in bed and my 3 kids were asleep. My husband was on night shifts. Following morning my husband goes ballistic at me, physically shaking demanding to know why I was out at that time in the morning

That is awful. Why on earth was he tracking you at 3am?

Always makes me laugh to think of all these women timing the pasta so that their dh’s have it on the table the very second they step through the door…..

God forbid they should wait to eat
Lunacy!

Jooot · 23/09/2025 09:24

they’re not a hundred percent accurate especially with poor signal, dh uses a tracking app when he’s travelling back home when it’s a long journey. Instead of him on the a9 it will often show him suddenly in a field or miles away on a random road

TheNewWasp · 23/09/2025 09:32

Sounds to me like the perfect excuse if he is having an affair. I would be really cautious and consider hiring a private detective.

TicTac80 · 23/09/2025 09:33

I wouldn't worry too much - these things are often inaccurate due to lousy signal. My DC and I are all on Life 360 (just the basic app), and we all have iPhones (so have the find my phone thing switched on). Useful for finding the tech (well, me finding my tech when I put it down in the house and can't bloody find it!). Handy for having a look to see if DC are on their way home from school/work/night out (my eldest works shifts)....but sometimes timings or places are slightly out of whack.

That's not normal!

Luckyingame · 23/09/2025 09:49

Very random place ... Drug cartel, hiding bodies?
😂
Basically what others said, OP.
All is most probably good.

Bundleflower · 23/09/2025 09:51

My car has been insisting that I’m in Belgium for quite some time. Imagine it’s delight when a few weeks ago, we were actually in Belgium.

Hedjwitch · 23/09/2025 09:54

I refuse to activate location and tracking on my phone and won't spy on anyone else either. As has been shown, it causes suspicion and stress.

Digdongdoo · 23/09/2025 10:10

Presumably because the signal is poor in the locker.
All this tracking isn't healthy. You knew he was at the gym, he'll be home when he's done. Do you really need to know when, down to the minute? It's weird.

DrDisrespect · 23/09/2025 10:10

I track my exercise on strava and the map afterwards jumps all over my town/where I am even if I haven't been anywhere near there🤔 does it on other apps too

AndSheDid · 23/09/2025 10:17

Honestly, OP, this level of surveillance isn’t healthy. If you weren’t really afraid his phone had been stolen, but that he was having sex in a lay-by with slutty Mags from his Pilates class, then that’s your problem, not glitchy tech.

LorrieTosh · 23/09/2025 10:22

DH and I don’t share locations. He did recently check his own history out of curiosity though, after I’d told him about a couple who almost divorced over location sharing fuck ups.

He was most surprised to discover he’d been travelling extensively around Europe for the previous few months, without even realising.

thismummydrinksgin · 23/09/2025 10:23

My sons did this even though he was in the same location as his Dad.

PollyBell · 23/09/2025 10:33

This is creepy and controlling, tracking people is not reliable it can glitch even if it was a good idea in the first place

Justacigarette · 23/09/2025 10:46

I’d be really disappointed if he was. Especially as our son was with him at the gym.

If I’m honest it’s a bit of a novelty for us at the moment. We randomly message each other to ask silly questions and send silly texts about where each other are. And it’s useful when I leave my phone somewhere.

It’s not about stalking in our relationship: but I can understand how it could be used that way

Bippybop · 23/09/2025 09:08

I dont think its about the cooking its about stalking.
Must know where each other is at all times no trust if you need to track each other.

I agree that it’s not a good thing. But the pasta thing is often quoted as a justification….

Self fulfilling prophecy- that did make me laugh

noidea69 · 23/09/2025 10:56

Definitely shagging someone else at the mystery location. Hope you confronted him and kicked him out the house.

Or might have just been shit signal.
