Steeling sauces in weatherspoons

I went for lunch in weatherspoons, thre was two horrendously rough couple with a child eating a greggs sausage roll. They put sauces from the table in there bag. It's stealing plain and simple. I'm utterly appalled at some people these days.

No rougher than somebody who goes to a Spoons for lunch instead of a restaurant.

HotFuss93 · 22/09/2025 19:53

‘Steeling’ - what a horrendously rough spelling!

Tgan · 22/09/2025 20:03

I love a Greggs sausage roll!!

And don’t get me started on the Christmas Slices 🤤

I must be rough as . . . 😂

Festive bakes! Food of gods.

Midnight? Most places kick the kids out at 9/10pm

Yes, that was the point! Baby should not have been in there at that time! A totally unsuitable environment for any child!

The staff should've had them out earlier unless he managed to hide the child. We used to get told from 8.30pm that they had to be out by 9pm. However it was actually 10pm and that manager just wanted them out earlier so she didn't need to deal with kids.

It's 'rough' to lunch somewhere that's reasonably priced, quick and reliable, if not very exciting? I wouldn't usually want the full restaurant experience at lunchtime. Spoons is cheaper than, e.g. M&S cafe and helpfully highlights the items on the menu that are lower-calorie. If the weather is fine, I usually have a sandwich al fresco if I'm on a day trip, but if it's eating inside weather, Spoons is a decent option in my view.

What a snotty post. Since you were in in Wetherspoons what makes you so high brow?

She doesn't care for chain restaurants as a rule.

mamagogo1 · 23/09/2025 07:41

They have bottles here, not sachets, not seen a sachets in many many years in Wetherspoons

liveforsummer · 23/09/2025 07:43

Children are only allowed in Wetherspoons if they are having a meal (ordered from the premises- the sausage roll doesn’t count). Usually the adults have to be eating too although that may vary depending how strict the manager is so I’m very surprised if this is true

whattheysay · 23/09/2025 07:44

It’s Wetherspoons not weatherspoons

Same at all the wetherspoons I've been in no sachets just bottles.

RampantIvy · 23/09/2025 07:46

Love the MN snobbery about Wetherspoons.

DD, who can spell, sometimes takes a sachet of sauce away from similar establishments.

KimberleyClark · 23/09/2025 07:51

Bit cheeky to buy food from somewhere else and take it into a pub to eat.

I'm surprised they let them in with it - I once got turned away from a Wetherspoons because I had some food shopping with me in a bag - no intention of eating it in the pub Confused

teacoffeeorpassthegin · 23/09/2025 08:05

You’d hate me I ‘stole’ a wooden spoon from the takeaway yogurt thing in our co op (although to be fair I did tell the lady as I had forgotten to bring cutlery for my packed lunch 🤣)

Ratafia · 23/09/2025 08:16

I bet the horrendously rough couple know the difference between "there" and "their", though.

Tarkan · 23/09/2025 08:23

We overheard someone asking the bar staff at Spoons where they got the bottles of mango chutney as they’d been looking for it for ages. The bar staff told them just to take a bottle or two with them. They really don’t care. 🤣

Screamingabdabz · 23/09/2025 08:26

My DD’s posh university friend did this exact thing the other week. I was a bit 😲 tbh.

Dogaredabomb · 23/09/2025 08:27

Did I tell you about when I liberated a whole catering sized toilet roll from KFC? It was a brilliant score and lucky I had my backpack with me. Well, they should have locked it 🤷🏼‍♂️ plus it was a dirty protest on behalf of the chickens.

Dogaredabomb · 23/09/2025 08:31

YYYDlilah · 22/09/2025 19:29

They probably nicked the sausage roll too.

Interesting! I thought the sausage rolls were kept behind the counter?

tinytemper66 · 23/09/2025 09:02

To me, it isn’t snobbery, I just don’t like the views of the owner.

Not all of them. The one near me doesn't have that rule.

People are so quick to judge. You haven't walked in that couple's shoes. They may have been very poor. Or really hungry. They may have only been in Weatherspoons because they had stumbled through a time-portal from Victorian London, and were appalled at the prices. They may have been projections from an alternative reality in which ketchup sachets are sacred artefacts that need to be collected in order to earn additional years of life. It could be anything. You just don't know and yet you judge. People like you discust me. Their. I sed it.

Wetherspoons don't have ketchup sachets! They use full size bottles for ketchup, mayo and brown sauce. The sachets are only for the less popular condiments.
